Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the EX era.
POP Series 3 is a compact promotional run from the EX era, part of the POP series, and it is built around a single 17-card list with no secret cards above the count. It was released on April 1, 2006, under set code P3. Its 17 printings split into five commons, five uncommons and seven rares. Nothing in the rarity structure is flagged as a chase tier, so the interest comes from the names on the list. Ho-Oh ex, Pichu Bros. and Blastoise are the headline cards, and the Pokémon types it leans on are Lightning, Fire, Fighting and Grass.
The pull structure here is flat: seven rares, five uncommons and five commons, with no chase-tier rarity and nothing numbered past the printed 17. Value still clusters in a few cards. Ho-Oh ex is the most valuable card in POP Series 3, illustrated by Mitsuhiro Arita, followed by the common Pichu Bros., then Blastoise, also by Arita, and Ditto. Jolteon, by Masakazu Fukuda, rounds out the top five. Those five cards hold 63 percent of the set's total card value, so the rest of the card list is comparatively inexpensive.

As of October 2026, POP Series 3 holds the 4th highest total card value of the 10 comparable EX-era sets, about 1.3 times the era median, and ranks 16th across the 35 comparable sets in the game. Its most valuable card, Ho-Oh ex, ranks 5th among the era's single most valuable cards, while trading activity places it 2nd in the era. At 17 printed cards it is about the same size as the era median of 17. It followed POP Series 2, which holds less total value, and came before POP Series 4, which holds more. Twelve of its cards first appeared in Japan in the PCG-P Promotional cards, released February 1, 2004.

The full run of POP Series 3 is 17 printings, and all 17 are priced, so the card list is easy to track from start to finish. Because 63 percent of the set's total card value sits in five cards, the cost of a complete set depends mostly on those few names, while the remaining commons and uncommons add little. The sealed line is small, a single product listed under other sealed items, so most collectors work from singles when building the card list.
