Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the Diamond & Pearl era.
Majestic Dawn is a 100-card expansion from the Diamond & Pearl era of the English-language Pokémon TCG, released on May 1, 2008 under the set code MD. Its card list is compact and tidy, with 100 printed cards and no secret cards above that count. The rarity structure runs from commons and uncommons up through rares and holo rares to a small group of LV.X cards. The set leans on Colorless, Water, Grass and Psychic Pokémon, and it gives Glaceon and Leafeon three printings each, with Aipom, Chimchar and Eevee each printed twice.
The chase in Majestic Dawn sits in just 4 Rare Holo LV.X cards, the top tier of a ladder that otherwise climbs from commons through uncommons, rares and Rare Holos. The most valuable cards are Glaceon LV.X and Leafeon LV.X, both illustrated by Ryo Ueda, followed by the Rare Holo Glaceon by Atsuko Nishida and the Rare Holo Mewtwo by Kent Kanetsuna. Porygon-Z LV.X rounds out the next tier. Value is heavily concentrated: the top five cards alone hold 62 percent of the set's total card value, so the rest of the card list matters far less to the overall tally.
Majestic Dawn was released May 1, 2008.

As of October 2026, Majestic Dawn holds the 3rd highest total card value of the 11 comparable Diamond & Pearl sets, about 1.2 times the era median, and 51st across the whole game. Its single most valuable card ranks 4th in the era, and it holds 4th for trading activity. At 100 printed cards it runs smaller than the era median of 123. It followed Great Encounters, which holds less total value, and came before Legends Awakened, which also holds less. Its cards first appeared in Japan in Entry Pack '08, released November 30, 2007, which shares 33 cards with this English release.

The full run of Majestic Dawn is 100 printings, and all 100 are priced, so there are no blind spots in the card list. Because the top five cards hold 62 percent of total card value, a complete set is largely defined by the price of a few LV.X and holo cards, while the commons and uncommons add comparatively little. The sealed line lists 4 products, made up of decks, a booster box and a booster pack, giving collectors both sealed and single-card routes into the set.
