HeartGold SoulSilver, set code HS, is the English-language Pokémon TCG expansion that opened the HeartGold & SoulSilver era, released on February 10, 2010. It lists 123 official cards plus 1 secret card, 124 printings in all. The set is built around the LEGEND cards, with Lugia and Ho-Oh each printed as a two-piece pair, and around the Johto starters' final forms and Gyarados, several of which appear in more than one version. Its Pokémon lean on Water, Colorless, Grass and Psychic types.
The HeartGold SoulSilver card list climbs from commons and uncommons through rares and holo rares to 11 chase-tier cards: six Rare PRIME, four LEGEND and one Ultra Rare, with the secret card numbered past the printed 123. The most valuable cards are Lugia LEGEND, a Gyarados holo rare, the second Lugia LEGEND half, and the Ho-Oh LEGEND pair, with Shinji Higuchi illustrating the LEGEND pieces. The top five cards hold 48 percent of the set's total card value, so these chase cards carry nearly half the worth of a complete set.

Its most valuable single card places 4th in the era, and it ranks 3rd for trading activity. At 123 printed cards it runs larger than the era median of 95. It followed Arceus, which holds less total value, and came before Unleashed, which also holds less. Its cards first appeared in Japan in L1: HeartGold Collection and L1: SoulSilver Collection, both released October 9, 2009.

Finishing the HeartGold SoulSilver card list means 124 printings, and all 124 are priced, so the full run can be tracked card by card. Because the top five cards hold 48 percent of total card value, the cost of a complete set depends mostly on the LEGEND pieces and the top Gyarados rather than the long run of commons and uncommons. Sealed product for the set is a small line: a booster box and booster packs. Collectors working this expansion will also meet Ken Sugimori and Masakazu Fukuda among its most frequent illustrators.
