Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the XY era.
Double Crisis is a compact 34-card expansion in the XY era of the English-language Pokémon TCG, released on March 25, 2015 under the set code DCR. With no secret cards above the printed count, its 34 cards are the whole set, a fraction of the size of a typical XY release. What defines it is its Team Magma and Team Aqua theme: its most valuable cards, including Team Aqua's Kyogre EX and Team Magma's Groudon EX, carry those team names. The set leans on Darkness, Psychic, Fighting and Water Pokémon, which suits the two rival villain groups it features.
Double Crisis has a short rarity ladder: 14 commons, 12 uncommons and 6 rares, topped by just 2 chase-tier Ultra Rares. Those two are the headline pulls, Team Aqua's Kyogre EX and Team Magma's Groudon EX, both illustrated by nagimiso. Below them the value drops into unusual territory, with Team Magma's Great Ball, an uncommon, ranking 3rd, followed by Team Aqua's Sharpedo, a rare, and Team Aqua's Spheal, a common. Value is heavily concentrated: the top five cards hold 96 percent of the set's total card value, so almost everything else is bulk.

As of October 2026, Double Crisis holds the 8th highest total card value among the 14 comparable XY sets, about equal to the era median, and ranks 85th across the 130 sets in the game. Its single most valuable card ranks 4th in the era, and it sits 8th for trading activity. At 34 printed cards it is far smaller than the era median of 113. It followed Primal Clash, which holds more total value, and came before Roaring Skies, which also holds more. Its cards first appeared in Japan in CP1: Magma Gang vs Aqua Gang: Double Crisis, released January 30, 2015.

The full card list runs to 34 printings, and all 34 are priced, so a complete set is easy to track. Because the top five cards carry 96 percent of the set's total card value, the cost of finishing it depends almost entirely on those few cards, while the commons, uncommons and most rares fill in around them. Sealed product for Double Crisis is limited to 3 items, made up of blisters and a booster pack, so the set's sealed line is small, like the set itself.
