Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the Diamond & Pearl era.
Infernape, Torterra and Empoleon, each a Rare Holo LV.X, are the headline cards of Diamond & Pearl, the English-language Pokémon TCG expansion that opened the Diamond & Pearl era. The set code is DP, and the release date was May 1, 2007. It carries 130 cards, and the three starter evolutions all appear in two printings each. Its card list leans on Grass, Psychic, Colorless and Fighting Pokémon, with the starters' LV.X forms at the top and the Sinnoh legendaries Dialga and Palkia among the holo rares. Its cards first appeared in Japan in DP1: Space-Time Creation.
The pull ladder in Diamond & Pearl runs from commons and uncommons through rares and Rare Holo cards to just three Rare Holo LV.X cards, and those three are the chase tier. Infernape LV.X leads the most valuable cards, followed by Torterra LV.X, then the non-holo Rare Gengar, then Empoleon LV.X, with a Rare Holo Lucario fifth. Shizurow illustrated the three LV.X cards, and Kagemaru Himeno illustrated Gengar. The top five cards hold 49 percent of the set's total card value, so roughly half the worth of the card list sits in those five.

A full run of Diamond & Pearl is 130 printings, and all 130 are priced. Because the top five cards carry 49 percent of the set's total card value, the cost of a complete set depends mostly on the three LV.X cards and a few Rare Holos, while the commons and uncommons that make up most of the checklist add little. The sealed line has five products: theme decks, a booster box and a booster pack.
