Dark Explorers is a 108-card expansion in the Black & White series of the English-language Pokémon TCG, with three secret cards numbered above the printed count for 111 printings in all. It released on May 9, 2012 under the set code DEX. The set leans on Darkness, Water, Colorless and Fire Pokémon, and its identity is built around the EX cards: Darkrai-EX and Entei-EX each appear in two versions, alongside doubled printings of Bisharp, Chansey and Eevee. Groudon-EX, Raikou-EX and Kyogre-EX round out the headline cards.
The Dark Explorers pull ladder runs from 33 commons, 35 uncommons and 34 rares up to six Ultra Rares and three Secret Rares, the secrets sitting past the printed 108. The most valuable cards in the set are the Secret Rare Gardevoir, then the Ultra Rares Darkrai-EX, Groudon-EX and Raikou-EX, with Kyogre-EX close behind. Every one of them was illustrated by 5ban Graphics, the artist with the most cards in the set at 15. Value is heavily concentrated: the top five cards alone hold 69 percent of the set's total card value.

Its top card also ranks 3rd in the era by single-card value, and only one comparable set trades more actively. At 108 printed cards it sits about level with the era median of 111. It followed Next Destinies, which holds less total value, and came before Dragons Exalted, which also holds less. The English release carries cards that first appeared in the Japanese BW4: Dark Rush, issued on December 16, 2011, sharing 66 of them.

A complete Dark Explorers run covers 111 printings, and all 111 are priced. Because the top five cards hold 69 percent of the set's total card value, the cost of finishing is set by a handful of Ultra Rares and the Secret Rare Gardevoir, while the many commons, uncommons and rares beneath them carry far less of the total. The sealed line lists 5 products, including a booster box, booster packs and blister packs, so the set can be approached through opened product as well as through singles.
