Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the EX era.
Crystal Guardians is an English-language Pokémon TCG expansion from the EX era and the EX series, released on August 30, 2006 under the set code CG. The card list runs 100 cards with no secret cards above the printed count. Its headline cards are Alakazam ☆, Charizard δ and Celebi ☆, and it carries several delta species versions of familiar Pokémon. Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Mudkip, Marshtomp and Combusken each appear twice. By type it leans on Water, Grass, Fighting and Psychic Pokémon.
The Crystal Guardians chase cards all sit in the Rare tier, with no separate secret-rare layer above the printed 100. Alakazam ☆ is the most valuable card in the set, followed by Charizard δ, Celebi ☆, Kyogre ex and Blastoise δ. Masakazu Fukuda illustrated three of those five, including Alakazam ☆, and he shares the most cards in the set with Mitsuhiro Arita at 8 apiece. Value is heavily concentrated: the top five cards hold 66 percent of the set's total card value, so most of what makes this card list worth chasing sits in a handful of rares.

A complete Crystal Guardians run is 100 printings, and all 100 are priced. Because two thirds of the set's value rides on five cards, the cost of finishing it is driven by those few rares, while the remaining commons and uncommons add little. The set has two sealed products listed, a booster box and a booster pack, which sit below on the page.
