Variants do the heavy lifting in the BREAKthrough master set, which comes to 302 slots against 165 cards in the set: the 162 official cards plus 3 secret rares. That works out to about 1.8 slots per card, split across 137 reverse holo slots, 123 normal slots and 42 holo slots. Laid out nine to a side, the full master set checklist fills 17 double-sided binder pages. BREAKthrough is an XY era expansion for the English-language Pokémon TCG, released on November 4, 2015.
Three families make up the BREAKthrough master set: Reverse Holo with 137 slots, Normal with 123 and Holo with 42. The reverse holo family exists because Common, Uncommon and Rare cards each have a reverse holo print alongside the regular one, so every card at those tiers takes two binder slots. Holo slots belong to the cards printed only with a foil finish. No stamped or special-edition families appear in this set, so a complete BREAKthrough master set is mostly a matter of finding every card in both of its standard finishes.
| Variant family | Slots | Priced | Share of value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reverse Holo | 137 | 137 | 19% |
| Normal | 123 | 123 | 4.0% |
| Holo | 42 | 42 | 77% |
The BREAKthrough master set cost is heavily concentrated. Its ten most valuable slots hold 60 percent of the total value, and the holo finish alone carries 75 percent, with reverse holos at 20 percent and normal prints at 5 percent. The lower-value half of the priced slots adds up to just 3 percent. Of the 302 slots, 302 carry a price as of October 24, 2026. Condition matters a great deal here: an LP and up master set sits 39 percent below the Near Mint total, and an MP and up set sits 60 percent below it.

Five slots, all Mewtwo EX cards in holo, define the difficulty of the BREAKthrough master set. The two Secret Rare Mewtwo EX slots rank first and second by value, followed by the two Ultra Rare M Mewtwo EX slots and an Ultra Rare Mewtwo EX in fifth. None is a variant of a card's main print, so every one is a straightforward chase card rather than a hidden reverse holo surprise. Together these five hold 44 percent of the master set's total value, which means the rest of the checklist is comparatively quick work once they are in the binder.
At 302 slots, the BREAKthrough master set is about 1.4 times the XY era median of 209 slots. By master set value it ranks 7th among the 14 comparable sets of its era. The previous set, Ancient Origins, has 173 slots, yet its master set holds higher value than this one. The next set, BREAKpoint, has 222 slots and a master set of lower value. So BREAKthrough is a larger master set than either neighbor by slot count, while its value sits in the middle of the era.

A BREAKthrough master set is one copy of every card AND every variant in the set — the 165 cards on this page, with their Normal, Reverse Holo and Holo prints each listed and priced on their own. Sign in and the checklist tracks what you own, in step with the Cardboard Alpha app.
The large NM-only figure is a complete catalog estimate when every printing has current NM pricing. LP, MP, HP, and DMG “and up” totals below it use the requested condition or a better available condition. These are summed reference prices, not a quote from one seller; a dash means the current market does not cover every printing yet.
“LP and up” means lightly played or better: the total uses LP when available, then NM as the better-condition fallback. The MP, HP, and DMG tiers follow the same pattern.
