S12: Paradigm Trigger is a Japanese Pokémon TCG expansion from the Sword & Shield era, released on October 21, 2022 under the set code S12. Its release date placed it between S11a: Incandescent Arcana and S12a: VSTAR Universe. The card list totals 125 catalog printings, and the set is defined by its Lugia cards, since Lugia V and Lugia VSTAR each appear in three versions alongside three versions each of the trainers Brandon, Candice and Lance. Lugia V also leads the card list by value, which marks where the set's identity lies.
The pull ladder in Paradigm Trigger runs from commons and uncommons up through 39 chase-tier cards, split across Double Rare, Triple Rare, Super Rare, Ultra Rare and Hyper Rare. The most valuable cards are Lugia V, Regidrago V and Unown V, all Super Rare, followed by Lugia VSTAR at Ultra Rare and again at Hyper Rare. Value is heavily concentrated, with the top five cards holding 82 percent of the set's total card value, so a complete set is mostly the price of a handful of pulls.
As of October 2026, Paradigm Trigger holds the 7th highest total card value of the 30 comparable Sword & Shield sets, about 2 times the era median, and its top card ranks 2nd among the era's single most valuable cards. It also ranks 7th for trading activity in the era and 68th for total value across the whole game. It followed S11a: Incandescent Arcana, which holds less total value, and came before S12a: VSTAR Universe, which holds more. English collectors received 54 of its cards in Silver Tempest, which came 3 weeks after the Japanese release.

Completing Paradigm Trigger means chasing all 125 catalog printings, and every one of them is priced. Because the top five cards carry such a large share of the set's value, the cost of a full run is dominated by the Lugia V and Lugia VSTAR printings and a few other Super Rares, while the commons and uncommons add little. The sealed line is small, made up of a booster box and individual booster packs.
