30th Celebration Artwork: Visual Threads and Binder Gems
30th Celebration's artwork links through day and night pairs, three Kanto birds that read as one scene, Meowths that cameo in each other's cards and a LEGEND split across two cards, with October 20, 2026 evaluated prices for scale.
Checked against the released cards, the artwork in 30th Celebration connects in at least five ways: an official day and night split, three Kanto birds that read as one scene, three Meowths that turn up in one another's cards, a Mewtwo ex and Mew ex pair in opposite palettes, and one picture cut across two Classic Collection cards.
The set released on September 16, 2026. Each connection was checked on the card itself, through its printed credit, scene and rules text, and anything unconfirmed was cut. For scale, Cardboard Alpha's evaluated prices for raw Near Mint English copies on October 20, 2026 added up to $17.75 for the three birds and $22.97 for the three Meowths.
Day and night, the official thread
The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) said on August 18, 2026 that the two Pikachu ex Special Illustration Rares "specifically emphasize the day and night aesthetic" of the set, something to expect across the whole expansion (see the rarity symbols guide). On September 7, 2026, it sorted 15 Illustration Rares and Special Illustration Rares into day and night groups:
Day: Alolan Exeggutor 129, Moltres 130, Morpeko 135, Maushold 146, Fuecoco ex 147, Sylveon ex 153 and Salamence ex 156.
Night: Articuno 132, Zapdos 133, Toxtricity 134, Chandelure 137, Scraggy 140, Gholdengo 142, Greninja ex 148 and Jirachi ex 155.
The clearest case is the pair drawn by kantaro. Card 149 is a confetti parade in daylight, and card 150 is a night stroll under fireworks.
TPCi names Alolan Exeggutor, Espeon, Sylveon and Cosmog among the day guests, and Gengar, Umbreon and a Midnight Form Lycanroc among the night guests. It also points to mirrored pairs: Gimmighoul and Gholdengo, Volbeat and Illumise, and Cosmog and Cosmoem.
The cards bear this out, and Moltres and Zapdos make cameos near the top of the day and night cards.

TPCi's August 19 preview sets Lugia in a nighttime scene and Ho-Oh in daylight and notes that the two strike similar poses, and the cards agree: both spread their wings wide and face the viewer, one under a bright sky and one in dark rain. Solgaleo and Lunala belong here because TPCi notes that the day guest Cosmog can eventually evolve into Solgaleo and the night guest Cosmoem into Lunala.
TPCi's June 30 product showcase carries the theme into sealed products: ten Mini Tin art cards, listed for October 2, 2026, combine into two pictures of day and night, and Battle Decks, listed for October 30, 2026, are led by Espeon ex or Umbreon ex.
The Kanto birds as one scene
mashu is credited on Moltres 130, Articuno 132 and Zapdos 133, three Illustration Rares with swirling backgrounds: flame orange for Moltres, icy blue among snowflakes for Articuno and electric yellow on storm blue for Zapdos.
Set side by side in that order, the three read as one scene. The backdrop deepens from pale and sunlit around Moltres to storm blue around Zapdos, which fits TPCi's sorting of Moltres into the day group and Articuno and Zapdos into the night group.
Small details echo across the cards. A flame sits in Articuno's upper-left corner, snowflakes sit in Moltres's lower right and Zapdos's upper left, and flame shapes curl into Zapdos's lower corners.
TPCi only teased the join, asking "what would it look like if you put them all together?", so this description rests on the card images, not an official statement.
The rules text links them too. Each bird's Ability works only if the other two are in play, and then attaches a matching Basic Energy card from your hand. The Commons (011, 018 and 055) by HYOGONOSUKE carry the same Abilities in separate scenes: a bright sky, a snowy landscape and a thunderstorm.
On October 20, 2026, Cardboard Alpha's evaluated prices for raw Near Mint copies were $5.99 for Moltres, $6.00 for Articuno and $5.76 for Zapdos, each from 88 to 104 same-day sales.

Meowths in each other's scenes
OKUBO is credited on Meowth 144, Alolan Meowth 139 and Galarian Meowth 141, all Illustration Rares. TPCi's August 8 reveal gives the Meowth cards day-and-night-themed looks, sets both OKUBO scenes in an urban setting and points out the other forms hiding in each.
On the cards, each scene stacks balconies, stairs and pipes into an apartment block. Meowth naps on a laundry-lined balcony in daylight, Alolan Meowth leans from a lit window at night, and Galarian Meowth sits under a parasol in a sunset-pink sky.
The hidden detail is the casting. An Alolan Meowth dangles over a line at the top of the Meowth card while a Galarian Meowth dozes on a ledge at the lower right, and a Meowth sprints along the top of the Alolan card with a striped Galarian Meowth at its bottom edge. The Galarian card repeats the trick, with an Alolan Meowth clinging to a doorway and a Meowth climbing the stairs.
On October 20, 2026, Cardboard Alpha's evaluated prices for raw Near Mint copies were $9.41 for Meowth, $6.57 for Alolan Meowth and $6.99 for Galarian Meowth, each from 67 to 76 same-day sales.

Mew and Mewtwo in opposite palettes
Mewtwo ex 157 and Mew ex 158 are the set's two Futuristic Rare cards, and both print a YOSHIROTTEN credit. They share one design: the Pokémon in front of a ring, glossy orbs stamped with Energy symbols floating around it, and a rainbow-gradient version of the anniversary Pikachu logo.
The palettes are inverted. Mewtwo is violet metal with a copper glow on deep blue, and Mew is pearlescent pastel on pale aqua.
The Special Illustration Rare pair is also dark against light. Mewtwo ex 151 by Yano Keiji stands in white and lilac against black geometric linework, and Mew ex 152 by Kuroimori floats in a golden forest of vines and flowers. They have different artists, so they pair by mood rather than by hand.
Three more Mew cards, numbered R/RGB, G/RGB and B/RGB, print the same YOSHIROTTEN credit. Each rotates red, green and blue between Mew, its background and its text, and the letter in the number matches the background. No TPCi page read for this guide mentions them, so only the printed cards are described.
On October 20, 2026, Cardboard Alpha's evaluated prices for raw Near Mint copies were $40.32 for Mewtwo ex 157 and $46.37 for Mew ex 158, from 13 and 11 same-day sales.

The 30 Pikachu and their 30 artists
TPCi says there are 30 Pikachu rare cards, each with a different illustration, artist and attacks, and a Pikachu card in every booster pack. The catalog agrees: cards 023 to 052 carry 30 different illustrator credits and 35 attack names, none repeated, and each prints its place in the run, from 01/30 to 30/30, near the bottom left. Six of the 30:

Seven of the 30 artists drew a second card in the main set, among them Kazuki Minami (Lugia 121), Nurikabe (Solgaleo 105) and Atsushi Furusawa (Fuecoco ex 147). On October 20, 2026, the 30 evaluated prices for raw Near Mint copies ran from $0.66 for DOM's 08/30 to $3.85 for Shinji Kanda's 18/30, each from 9 to 15 same-day sales, and added up to $35.14.
Two cards, one picture
A second kind of join sits in the Classic Collection, a separate 30-card set in the catalog. The Darkrai & Cresselia LEGEND is printed as a top half and a bottom half, and with the top card above the bottom card the picture continues across the join, with Cresselia's pink ribbons curling up toward Darkrai's tendrils.
The rules text says each half goes onto the Bench only with the other. The cards print 99/102 and 100/102 and a 2010 copyright line, so these are reprints of an older pair, and TPCi's showcase calls the Classic Collection "the cards of yesteryear."

Each price is the median delivered price (item plus required shipping) of that day's recorded sales, with extremes trimmed. Those sales numbered 88 to 104 per bird, 67 to 76 per Meowth, 9 to 15 per Pikachu Rare and 11 to 13 per Futuristic Rare and Pikachu ex card. One number per card per day can differ from a single marketplace, and a total is not a quote for buying the group.
The three RGB Mew cards are left out because their evaluated prices that day rested on a guide value, an ask-based estimate and a single sale blended with asks, not a run of sales.
Where the pairings stop
A shared artist or palette is a reason to display cards together, and the pairings differ in how firmly they are confirmed.
Birds: one artist, linked Abilities and one running backdrop, but the join is read from the card images because TPCi has only teased it.
Meowths: one artist, one style and one kind of setting, with no official word on whether the three views show the same building.
Mewtwo ex and Mew ex: one artist and one design, but two cards that each stand alone.
Day and night pairs: an official theme, yet only the Pikachu ex pair and the Meowth trio share an artist.
The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) says the set has 30 Pikachu rare cards, and the catalog agrees: they are numbered 023 to 052 of 128 and 01/30 to 30/30 within the run, each with its own illustrator and attacks. The set also has Pikachu ex cards, including two Special Illustration Rares by kantaro.
Which 30th Celebration cards share an illustrator?
Several do: mashu is credited on the Moltres, Articuno and Zapdos Illustration Rares (130, 132, 133), and OKUBO on Meowth, Alolan Meowth and Galarian Meowth (144, 139, 141). kantaro drew both Pikachu ex Special Illustration Rares (149, 150), and YOSHIROTTEN the Futuristic Rare Mewtwo ex and Mew ex (157, 158). Credits are as printed on the cards.
What is the day and night theme in 30th Celebration?
The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) says the two Pikachu ex Special Illustration Rares emphasize a day and night look that runs across the whole expansion, and on September 7, 2026 it sorted 15 Illustration Rares and Special Illustration Rares into day and night groups. Ho-Oh and Lugia, Espeon ex and Umbreon ex, and Solgaleo and Lunala show the same split on single cards. Sealed products carry it too, including Mini Tins whose ten art cards combine into one picture of day and one of night.
Do the three Kanto bird Illustration Rares form one picture?
Set side by side as Moltres, Articuno and Zapdos, they read as one scene, with the backdrop deepening from pale to storm blue and small flame and snowflake details echoed across the cards. TPCi only teased the idea on September 7, 2026 by asking what it would look like to put the three together, so that reading comes from the card images. Each bird's Ability also works only when the other two are in play.
Which cards are two halves of one picture?
The Classic Collection's Darkrai & Cresselia LEGEND is printed as a top half and a bottom half that join into one artwork, and each half goes onto the Bench only with the other. TPCi also lists ten Mini Tin art cards that combine into two pictures.
What does binder gem mean in this guide?
It means a card or group of cards whose artwork rewards a second look, such as a trio by one illustrator. It does not mean the cards are scarce, underpriced or likely to rise, and the prices quoted describe October 20, 2026 only.

Most Valuable Pokemon Cards by Decade: 1990s Through 2020s
This guide ranks Pokemon cards by decade with two separate lenses: Cardboard Alpha's raw Near Mint evaluated prices for English printings on October 13, 2026, and the highest auction sale found for each decade at Heritage, Goldin and Fanatics Collect. It names the leader of the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s on each lens, adds sale-based PSA 10 prices for the 2010s and 2020s, and shows why the two answers differ.
