Up Up And Away Comics

Up Up And Away Comics is a comic book shop at 4016 Harrison Ave in Cincinnati, in the Cheviot area on the city's west side. It is the original westside location of the Up Up & Away shops, and comic books are its focus. It suits collectors hunting for older issues as much as readers keeping up with the week's new releases.

What's on the shelves

Back issues are the draw here. The store carries one of the area's most extensive selections, reaching back to 1919. The shelves include titles such as Cerebus, Mutt & Jeff and Crazy Magazine, with raw copies in a range of conditions from good through near mint.

New material fills out the rest. The store stocks current variants and card stock covers from DC and Marvel, along with graphic novels, omnibus hardcovers and trade paperbacks. Digest paperbacks, art and reference books and role playing game miniatures are also on the shelves. Collectors can pick up supplies such as BCW comic book bags in resealable golden 100-count packs.

Ordering online

The store takes orders online around the clock, and purchases can be picked up locally at the store.

Hours and getting there

The store is at 4016 Harrison Ave in Cincinnati. Sunday is a closed day. Monday and Tuesday are temporarily closed.

History

The Cheviot shop is where Up Up & Away began on the west side, and it has since been joined by a larger Blue Ash location. The Blue Ash shop is the more spectacular of the two; the Cheviot store trades on a quieter, smaller-scale charm.

The local scene
