Rockin' Rooster Comics & Games

Rockin' Rooster Comics & Games is a comic shop at 5000 Glenway Ave in Cincinnati that doubles as a card-game stop, with regular Magic: The Gathering, One Piece Card Game and Dungeons & Dragons play through the week. Comics come first here: new issues arrive every week and more than 100 boxes of back issues are in stock. For anyone who wants a neighborhood place to read, collect and play in the same visit, that mix is the draw.

What's on the shelves

Card games stocked are Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece Card Game and Disney Lorcana, and new releases from those brands arrive in store. Magic support covers the recent run of products, including Draft, Set and Play boosters across several sets, and a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles prerelease has been on the calendar for February 27 and 28. Pokémon is stocked as Play Boosters from the Scarlet and Violet era. One Piece releases are scheduled by set, with OP-11 on June 6, OP-12 on August 22, PRB-02 on October 3 and OP-13 on November 7.

Dragon Shield sleeves and decks are carried alongside the cards, and Dungeons & Dragons products are stocked for the tabletop group that meets on Mondays.

Weekly play

The Magic sessions are open to Commander players and run from noon until about 7 PM, the Sunday One Piece session runs 1 to 3 PM or later, and the Friday One Piece night runs 6 to 9 PM or later.

Dungeons & Dragons

Monday evening D&D is free, and no preparation is needed: players can bring their own character or use one the store provides. It runs from 5 PM into the evening, which makes it an easy first session for someone new to the game.

Hours and getting there
