Southwest Card World

Southwest Card World is a sports card and Pokémon shop in South College Station, at 4438 State Highway 6 S. It buys, sells and trades sports cards, and it stocks Pokémon items and sports memorabilia alongside them. The shop suits collectors who follow the major American leagues, newcomers to the hobby and families who want a general-purpose card shop with seven-day hours.

What's on the shelves

Sports cards are the core of the business. The catalog is organized by baseball, basketball, football, ice hockey, soccer, tennis, golf, racing and UFC and wrestling, with separate groupings for Pokémon, Star Wars, entertainment, comic books and multi-sport products. More than 500 products are in the catalog, and sealed boxes make up much of what is shown: current hobby boxes, jumbo hobby boxes, blaster boxes and mega boxes across Topps, Bowman and Panini lines. Football is especially deep, with Topps Chrome, Midnight, Inception and Heritage boxes and Panini Donruss and Obsidian boxes. Baseball includes Pro Debut, Museum Collection and Cosmic Chrome, and the basketball lineup includes Topps Flagship. Entertainment tie-ins such as Marvel and Disney-themed Topps products sit alongside the sports lines.

Pricing runs a wide range, from blaster boxes under $40 to jumbo hobby boxes that top $1,074.99, so the shop covers casual buyers and serious box breakers alike. Some sealed products sell out, and a separate presale category covers upcoming releases.

The shop also buys and trades, which makes it a place to bring a collection as well as to shop. A rewards program pays back to customers who buy cards, and gift certificates are available, with gift ideas sorted into price tiers of under $50, under $100 and under $200. The store sells online too and ships orders quickly, so out-of-town collectors can order from the same catalog.

History

The store grew out of a friendship of about four decades between its two founders, who started as childhood collectors. Southwest Card World was established in 2020 and became a full retail shop in April 2021. Both owners are Texas A&M Aggies fans and family men, and the shop was set up to welcome die-hard collectors, people new to the hobby and families alike.
