Robbie's Retro Game Store

Robbie's Retro Game Store is a retro video game shop at 7512 Main St #207 in The Colony, Texas, that also carries Pokémon cards. The core of the business is buying, selling and trading classic games, consoles and accessories, with a deep shelf of Nintendo titles and a Pokémon singles and sealed section that spans decades of sets. It suits players who want a pickup-and-play-era library and collectors who put cards and cartridges in the same budget.

What's on the shelves

Video games are the store's main stock. Consoles, games and accessories cover Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, Sega, Atari, NEC, 3DO and SNK platforms, and the Nintendo section alone runs to 1,737 titles in stock, from NES and Game Boy through GameCube, Wii and Switch. Computers (parts and pre-built PCs), food and gift cards round out the non-card side of the shop.

The card side is Pokémon. The catalog is organized by set, and it reaches well past current releases: Base Set, Base Set 2, Fossil, Team Rocket, Aquapolis and Hidden Legends sit alongside Evolving Skies, Crown Zenith, Prismatic Evolutions, Surging Sparks, Destined Rivals, Mega Evolution, Phantasmal Flames and Ascended Heroes. Promo lines and Japanese product are also stocked, including Japanese 25th Anniversary Golden Box and Japanese 30th Celebration, and there are Chinese and Korean releases such as Chinese 30th Celebration and Korean 30th Celebration. Older oddities show up too, among them 1999 Topps Movie and TV cards, 2000 Topps Chrome and Burger King promos.

Buying, trading and repairs

The store buys and trades as well as sells. Trade-ins pay 50% of the store's retail price in cash or 60% as store credit, and final offers follow an in-shop condition check, so an online quote is an estimate until staff inspect the item. Repairs are handled at the store: consoles, handhelds and accessories are assessed on the repair bench, parts are ordered if needed, and the invoice is paid at the register on pickup. Labor is $60.00 per hour plus parts.

Store policies

Purchases carry a 30-day, no-questions-asked return, provided the item comes back in the condition it was accepted in at final sale. Everything is sold as-is, and download codes that come with a game may already have been redeemed, so buying a title for its codes is not advisable unless they have been verified first.

Orders can be placed online for shipping, or for pickup in The Colony by appointment. Wish lists and back-in-stock notifications help track down hard-to-find items.

Robbie Rewards is a free loyalty program that earns one point per dollar of paid, taxable retail, in the store or online. Points redeem as a coupon on retail inventory:

Gift cards are store credit usable only at Robbie's Retro Game Store, and they do not earn points.
