Orion Bricks and Games

Orion Bricks and Games is a combined LEGO shop and game store at 53 N Springboro Pike in Miamisburg, Ohio. LEGO sets, dice, miniatures and board games share the floor with Magic: The Gathering, Disney Lorcana and Pokémon cards, and the owners built the place around play and community, so the store suits casual Commander players more than anyone chasing a competitive circuit. It is open six days a week, noon to 9 PM, and closed Sundays.

What's on the shelves

The stock runs wider than most card stores. Beyond Magic: The Gathering, Disney Lorcana and Pokémon trading cards, the store carries new and retired LEGO sets, dice, Dungeons & Dragons, miniatures and paints, and board games. Gift cards are sold in the store.

Buying and trading

The store buys as well as sells, and the policy is spelled out in some detail. Magic singles and sealed LEGO are the focus; the store is not currently buying Lorcana or Pokémon singles.

• Magic singles: Used singles in lots under 10 copies bring 50% to 70% of the card's market price in store credit, set by the manager based on condition and price, with higher-value cards earning a higher percentage.
• Bulk cards: Anything worth less than $2 counts as bulk, at $5 per thousand cards in store credit or $3 per thousand in cash.
• Larger collections: These take a day or two to quote, and sorting by rarity before bringing them in speeds things up.
• Sealed LEGO: New sealed sets in good condition, new or retired, earn 60% to 70% in store credit based on the average of the last six months of BrickLink sales.
• Used complete LEGO sets: These should be brought in built so completeness can be checked at a glance, and the offer is 60% of the BrickLink price for a comparable set.
• Minifigures: Anything under $5 gets a flat $1.25 cash offer. Pricier figures get 50% of the BrickLink price in credit.

Cash payouts on LEGO run at half the in-store credit offer, and trade credit is the better deal throughout.

History

The owners have been LEGO and game fans since childhood, and the store grew out of that. Their aim is a community around building sessions, play and new friendships rather than a pure retail counter.
