Nutmeg Games

Nutmeg Games is a family-owned specialty retailer at 178 Danbury Rd in New Milford, Connecticut, stocking board games, card games, puzzles and toys. For card players the draw is a spread of trading card games, with Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Disney Lorcana and Star Wars: Unlimited all carried, plus a buylist for people who want to sell cards in bulk. It suits families picking up a first game and singles shoppers alike, and it keeps late hours for a store of its kind.

What's on the shelves

The shelves run well past cards. The store carries board games, dice games, miniature games, puzzles and roleplaying games, with Dungeons & Dragons and Warhammer lines (Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40,000 among them) in the mix. Supplies cover sleeves, deck boxes, dice and hobby supplies. A beginner-friendly selection of board games, with Catan titles, Codenames, Dominion, Munchkin and Cards Against Humanity among them, is set aside for people picking up a new hobby.

On the trading card side, Pokémon is sold as singles, sealed product and graded cards. Magic: The Gathering has its own singles search, bulk card lots and a service for submitting a deck list to have a deck assembled. Lorcana, Star Wars: Unlimited, Universus and Attack on Titan round out the card lines. The store runs on BinderPOS for its card inventory.

Selling cards to the store

The store runs a buylist and pays cash for Magic bulk at $20 per 1000 cards, nonfoil or foil. Pokémon bulk pays $30 per 1000 cards across non-foil, reverse foil and holofoil. Sellers should estimate how many bulk cards they are submitting, include that total as a physical note, and separate bulk by game. Foil and non-foil cards go in separate piles, unsleeved. Approval can take up to 24 hours for cash buylists and for large store credit buylists.

Policies

Purchases can be returned within 30 days of receipt, in their original condition and packaging with a receipt or order record. Opened or sealed collectible games and Pokémon TCG are not eligible for return or exchange, and neither are gift cards, preowned items or concessions. Store credit works for in-store purchases and general merchandise but does not apply to the separate singles storefront. To spend credit on singles, a customer places an in-store pickup order and then asks the store to apply the credit.

Event tickets follow their own rule: they are not refunded within 24 hours of the event but can be refunded if cancelled more than 24 hours ahead. A seat may be released to another player 10 minutes after an event starts, without a refund. The store also offers a VIP membership, whose event-ticket discount is limited to one discounted ticket per person per event.

Orders are processed within 2 to 3 business days and do not ship or deliver on weekends or holidays.
