About
Brookfield Coin & Card is a coin and currency dealer at 499 Federal Rd Ste 11 in Brookfield, Connecticut. It has been in business since 1986 and has kept a storefront since 2003. The name still says Card, but the store no longer deals in sports cards, so the people it suits are coin collectors, holders of old paper money, and anyone with gold, silver or an estate collection to have looked at.
The store deals in coins, tokens and paper money, both U.S. and foreign. The U.S. coin inventory covers most dates of every denomination. The foreign stock is growing, with coins from most countries and new inventory arriving weekly.
Paper money runs from U.S. and world notes to colonial currency, Civil War notes, fractional currency, obsolete bank notes, United States notes and Federal Reserve notes. The store buys and sells gold and silver as well.
Collecting supplies are stocked: reference books, Dansco coin albums, Whitman blue folders, 2x2 Airtite holders, coin tubes, magnifying glasses, staplers and staples. Anything not in stock can be special ordered.
Appraisals for insurance and estate purposes are done by appointment. Small amounts of coins can be appraised on a walk-in basis at no charge, and there is no charge when the store buys the collection. Larger appraisal jobs are priced by calling the store. The owner has been sought out to appraise collections for estate settlements and insurance purposes.
The store is an authorized NGC and PMG dealer. Coins can be submitted to NGC for grading and authentication, and paper currency can be submitted to PMG.
Sports cards were once part of the business but are no longer. The store does not handle stamps either. In both cases the owners will point customers to other dealers based on what they have, which is a useful stop for someone arriving with a mixed lot. Brookfield also has a sports card shop a short drive away, listed below.
The store is open Wednesday through Saturday and closed the rest of the week. It also sees customers by appointment.

The address is 499 Federal Rd Ste 11, Brookfield, CT 06804, in the Danbury area of western Connecticut.
The business began in 1986 with the owner working coin shows and flea markets part time, a stretch that lasted until 2003. That year the shop opened full time at its current storefront. The owner's interest in coins goes back to childhood on a dairy farm in Ridgefield, where a hired summer worker gave him a tobacco can full of old coins. That can became a lifelong hobby and then a profession.
The Danbury Coin Club, a local club connected to the store, is transitioning out of a hiatus that began during the pandemic.
Brookfield has several collectibles stops close together. Hidden Treasures - Collectibles and Gifts and TV Comics are both in town at essentially the same spot, Krypto Comics is about 0.2 miles away, and Remember When Baseball Cards is about 0.5 miles away, a natural stop for the sports card business this store has stepped back from. Fanboy Collectibles in Newtown is about 3.6 miles off.
Card shows within driving range include the Mount Kisco Sports Card & Memorabilia Show, about 24.5 miles away with its next date on November 15, 2026, and Hard Hittin' Card Shows, about 35.4 miles away on November 22 and December 4, 2026. Tri Cities Card Show is about 42.4 miles away and next starts November 4, 2026.
