About
MN Sportscards is a sports card shop at 1400 E 7th St in Monticello, Minnesota, opened in early 2022 by a group of friends who collect. It stocks boxes, packs, supplies and singles across baseball, basketball, football and hockey, adds Pokémon and Lorcana, and buys and trades sports cards. It suits collectors who want sealed hobby product on the shelf, anyone with a collection to sell, and fans who want to meet an athlete at a signing.
The core of the store is sports cards: boxes, packs and singles in the four major sports, with box selections organized by year, from 2019-20 and 2020 seasons through the current releases. High-end product comes through too, including full hobby cases. The shop leans toward unopened hobby and retail boxes over memorabilia, which it does not actively purchase.
Gaming cards are a secondary line. Pokémon is sold as booster boxes, Elite Trainer Boxes, collection boxes, packs and singles, and Lorcana boxes and packs are stocked as well. Gift cards are sold in any denomination, and the staff will help with gift picks for family and friends who are new to the hobby.
The store buys and trades sports cards, with a focus on cards from 1995 to today and from before 1985, though other cards and collections are open for discussion. Weekdays tend to work better than weekends for bringing in a collection to sell. Staff will help with the value of a card at the counter, but full appraisals of whole collections are not offered. Grading services are not offered, and the store does not run card breaks.
Autograph signings with athletes are a regular feature, with tickets and merchandise sold for each upcoming signing. Recent and upcoming guests have included Myles Price and Isaiah Rodgers, and the shop also sells signed-photo merchandise tied to these appearances.
The store tries to host a trade night in late spring and again in early fall. Because crowds spill outside as well as filling the shop, the dates depend on weather allowing people to be outdoors. A loyalty program rewards repeat customers.
The store sits at 1400 E 7th Street in Monticello and is open every day.

MN Sportscards opened in early 2022, started by a group of friends with a passion for the hobby and run by two founders who co-own it, with a small sales staff. The stated goal from the start was to run a true hobby shop with a wide selection, fair offers on cards people want to sell or trade, clear information on products and a clean store that is easy to navigate.
Monticello has other collectible stops nearby: Mikes Coins & Collectibles is about 1.1 miles away and Lewis Game Shop about 1.3 miles.
