About
Lewis Game Shop is a game store at 220 7th St W in Monticello, Minnesota, in a space of more than 10,000 square feet. It carries Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering and the One Piece Card Game alongside board games, video games, tabletop roleplaying supplies and collectibles. It also runs rentable play rooms, which makes it as much a place to stay and play as a place to shop. It suits card players who want room to spread out, and anyone with a pile of games or toys to sell or trade.
Cards are one department among several. The store carries Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon and One Piece, and the rest of the floor is broad: more than 10,000 video games, retro and modern, along with consoles and accessories. Board games run from Settlers of Catan and Monopoly to Wingspan, and there are puzzles built around characters from Mario and Star Wars. Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder players can find rulebooks, dice, miniatures and accessories, and Warhammer buyers can pick up miniatures, paints, brushes and hobby supplies.
The collectibles wall is hand-picked and includes Funko Pop and other vinyl figures, action figures from the '80s and '90s and today, and plushies from Pokémon, Mario and Five Nights at Freddy's.
The store buys, sells and trades video games, card games, toys and collectibles, and will appraise items on the spot. It takes in nearly everything it sells, so a collection that has outgrown its owner has a place to go. Inventory rotates, with new arrivals weekly.
The store hosts events daily and offers free play every day of the week. The event lineup covers Pokémon tournaments, Magic: The Gathering events, One Piece nights, Dungeons & Dragons, board game nights and video game competitions. A dedicated space is set aside for miniature painting and board games, and tabletop communities for Dungeons & Dragons and Warhammer 40k meet in the play areas. Rooms with TVs also host anime watch-alongs and other streaming events.
The Monticello store rents three rooms, with payment taken on the day of the reservation. The party room also comes with eight TVs and a 104 inch projector for movies and slideshows, and the TVs can be set up with consoles and specific games on request. A popcorn machine is available on request, along with concessions from the main floor.

Lewis Game Shop began in Saint Cloud in 2011, selling and trading items the owners had crammed into their apartments. The early focus was video games and consumer electronics repair. Magic: The Gathering came a few years later, followed by Dungeons & Dragons and Pokémon. Video game tournaments, Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart among them, built an early community.
The Monticello store opened in 2019 as the first location dedicated exclusively to Lewis Game Shop. It outgrew its original site and moved to its current space by Cub Foods in 2023, a move that made room for the larger play areas and the TV rooms. The business also keeps a Saint Cloud store.
