Mindgames and Magic

Mindgames and Magic is a comic, game and collectible store at 206 SE 2nd St in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Magic: The Gathering is the center of the operation, with singles from the newest sets and a full run of sealed product, but the store also carries Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Flesh and Blood, plus board games, Warhammer miniatures and tabletop roleplaying books. It suits Magic players who want singles and event nights in one place, and hobbyists who split their time between cards and miniatures.

What's on the shelves

Magic: The Gathering gets the deepest stock. Singles are sorted by recent set, with Duskmourn, Bloomburrow, Outlaws of Thunder Junction, Murders at Karlov Manor, The Lost Caverns of Ixalan and Wilds of Eldraine all broken out. Sealed product runs from booster boxes and bundles to Commander decks and other boxed sets. For the Reality Fracture release, the lineup includes a play booster box of 30 packs at $165, a collector booster display of 12 at $400, a bundle at $65, a Commander deck at $50 and a Secret Lair bundle at $150. Blind boxes of 200 random singles, about 10 percent of them rares, are sold for players who want bulk.

Flesh and Blood stock includes singles, booster packs and boxes, the Silver Age deck, sleeves and dice. History Pack boosters and Mastery Pack Guardian packs sell for $5 each, a Compendium of Rathe booster is $6, and a Compendium of Rathe booster box is $144.90. Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! are carried as well.

The store also buys cards. Customers can sell a collection to the store, and a buy list is maintained. A deckbuilder tool lets players put together a list and submit it to have the cards pulled.

Beyond cards, the store sells:

• Board games, including strategy, party, family and children's titles and living card games
• Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar miniatures, with Orks, Blood Angels and other armies in stock
• Hobby paints, brushes, adhesive and clippers
• Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder and Starfinder books
• Dice, card sleeves, deck boxes and playmats

Events

Event tickets are sold in advance. The Friday prerelease for Reality Fracture ran three rounds with a pack per win, two packs for the final round, and a sealed deck, at $30. A Reality Fracture draft night is $105. Flesh and Blood draft tickets are $15, and a Saturday prerelease for Omens of the Third Age was $40. Prerelease tickets sell out ahead of the event.

Eligible items can be returned within 30 days of receipt if they are in the condition they were sold in and come with a receipt or proof of purchase. Sale items and gift cards cannot be returned.
