HobbyHolics

HobbyHolics is a family-owned hobby shop at 7649 Garden Grove Blvd in Garden Grove, California, built around Gundam model kits, anime figures and the tools to build them, with a trading card section alongside. It has operated for over a decade. The store suits builders and figure collectors first, and card players who want Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Digimon or Dragon Ball Super singles and product from the same counter.

What's on the shelves

Models and figures are the core of the stock. Gundam kits are sorted by series and by grade, from Entry Grade and High Grade through Real Grade, Master Grade and Perfect Grade, and the range also includes Blokees, Pokemon Pla kits and other model lines. Figure brands include Bandai Spirits, Good Smile Company, Hot Toys, S.H.Figuarts, Figuarts Mini, Banpresto, SEGA and Taito, covering series such as Dragon Ball, Demon Slayer, Naruto, One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen.

Modeling supplies fill out the builder's side: paint, cement, decals, nippers, putty, sanding sticks, panel line accent, top coat and Gundam markers, plus action bases and LED units.

The card selection covers five games:

• Pokémon
• Yu-Gi-Oh!
• One Piece Card Game
• Digimon Card Game
• Dragon Ball Super Card Game

Basketball cards are stocked as well, and card supplies have their own section. The store also keeps a clearance rack and sells gift certificates.

Pre-orders and policies

Pre-orders are a large part of how the store works, with a dedicated section covering figures, kits and other new releases, some of them high-end collector pieces. Because of import tariffs, pre-orders carry a base price and a tariff surcharge is added once an item arrives and the rate is confirmed. Increases of roughly 15% to 40% are expected on new and open pre-orders. Customers see the final total before any payment is processed and can cancel at that point.

Cancellation and return rules are strict:

• Only pre-orders can be canceled, and eligible cancellations carry a 15% fee calculated on the entire order total, including shipping and taxes.
• In-stock orders cannot be canceled once processing has begun.
• All sales are final. Returns are accepted only when the store made the error, such as sending the wrong item.
• A return must be requested within 3 days of delivery, the item must be new, unopened and in original condition, and the store must authorize it before it ships back.
• Refunds can take up to 4 weeks from the date the package is sent back.

The store ships to virtually any address in the US, though some products cannot go to international destinations. Shipping rates on many items are weight-based, and weights are rounded up to the next full pound.
