Heroes Comics & Cards

Heroes Comics & Cards is a comics and gaming store at 346 Main Ave in Norwalk, Connecticut, and its card side is Magic: The Gathering. It has been in business since 1995 and has carried Magic and run tournaments since the day it opened. It suits Magic players who want a local place to play, buy boosters and Commander decks, and pick up a stack of comics on the same trip.

What's on the shelves

The core of the store is comics: a full line of current issues, trade paperbacks and graphic novels, with t-shirts, toys and statues filling out the rest of the floor. Exclusive limited-edition metal lunchboxes with Thermos bottles have also been in stock recently.

For cards, the store focuses on Magic: The Gathering. Stock includes booster packs and boxes, Collector booster boxes and Commander decks.

Magic events

Magic is the store's organized-play identity. The events began in 1995 as small, unsanctioned gatherings meant to introduce people to the game, and they have grown with Magic itself. Tournaments are now fully sanctioned by the DCI, and the slate includes Friday Night Magic, prerelease tournaments for new sets, and Launch Parties.

Every event comes with prizes, and pizza and soda are served. The Friday Night Magic schedule is still to be determined, so check with the store before planning a Friday around it.

History

Heroes opened in 1995 as a traditional comics and gaming store and has kept that character since. The Magic program is nearly as old as the store: it started as a way to bring newcomers into the game and gradually became a full sanctioned-play operation.
