Coy's Comics

Coy's Comics is a comic book and gaming store at 3220 Bay Rd in Saginaw, Michigan, with more than 20 years in comics behind it. Magic: The Gathering is the card game the store is built around, with tournaments every Friday night, and it suits comic readers who also play Magic or want a Friday-night game close to home.

What's on the shelves

Comics are the core of the store, and new books arrive every Wednesday. A comic club lets members pick up their favorite new releases the day they come in. Board games have been added to the stock, and the store sells models and accessories for Warmachine and Hordes. For Magic players, there is a singles section that has carried Theros cards, including Standard singles.

Friday Magic

Magic: The Gathering tournaments run twice every Friday, with Standard first and Legacy later in the evening.

Friday is also the store's longest day, open until 11 PM, so the Legacy event has room to run late.

Prereleases and leagues

The store has run Magic prerelease weekends. For Born of the Gods, the schedule was a sealed deck event and a two-headed giant sealed event on February 1, plus a second sealed deck event on February 2. Each entry was $25, with prizes paid down to the top 8 or 16 players in sealed deck depending on turnout, and to the top 4 to 8 teams in two-headed giant. A Warmachine and Hordes league was planned to start in February 2014.
