Cobb Co Arena Games

Cobb Co Arena Games is a family-owned local game store at 200 Main St in Charlestown, New Hampshire, built around trading card games, Warhammer miniatures and a large play space with a kitchen attached. Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon and One Piece Card Game are the card games it carries, and the tables are open to players whenever the doors are. It suits tabletop regulars who want room to spread out, a meal at the table and a store that stays open as long as people are still playing.

What's on the shelves

Trading cards are the core of the card side. The store sells Magic: The Gathering packs, sealed boxes and single cards, along with Pokémon cards and One Piece Card Game product. Riftbound: League of Legends, Hololive Card Game and Gundam TCG are stocked too, and deck boxes, sleeves and other accessories sit alongside them.

Beyond cards, this is a full hobby store. The Warhammer line covers Warhammer 40k, Warhammer Fantasy, Kill Team, Necromunda, Warhammer Underworlds and Blood Bowl, with 40k armies shelved by faction. Modeling supplies are a strength: Green Stuff World, Citadel, Army Painter and Vallejo paints, basing materials, flock, brushes, glues, putty and terrain kits. Dice from Foam Brain are a house specialty, and the store also carries Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder books, role-playing miniatures, board games, retro and current video game consoles and games, and playmats and other merchandise.

A card sorter from ROCA Robotics is planned for the singles side; it is intended to evaluate collections from a CSV file. It is a plan, not yet something to count on.

The play space

The in-store games area seats up to 52 players. Magic: The Gathering, Warhammer 40k, Gaslands, Pathfinder Society and Dungeons & Dragons all play here, and the tables are open to players during every hour the shop is open. The space came from an expansion of the original Cobb Co Tech & Hobby storefront, which added the Arena Games name and the gaming room.

Organized play and leagues

The store runs its own in-house programs rather than relying on a single publisher-run schedule:

• Arena Games Planeswalker Program. Magic players earn points for attending tournaments and Friday, Wednesday and Monday play.
• Commander League: The Tribal Wars. Players pick a creature tribe and a commander and build decks worth $100 or less. Tribes are grouped into alliances such as Valor, the Fey, the Hoard and the Deep, and allied players at a table gain bonuses. Each entry puts two packs into the pot, one for the league prize pool and one into the player's alliance coffer. The season runs April 15 to June 17.
• Sector Bellerophon. A Warhammer 40k league that treats the store as a sector in a shared narrative setting, with a Rogue Trader championship program that began in 2024.

Food and hours

An on-site restaurant serves wings and other menu items, and it keeps cooking as long as players are at the tables. Orders can be placed online or by phone.

On Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays the shop stays open as late as 11 PM when players are still at the tables, so calling after 8 PM is the way to confirm.

Store policies

Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase, with some exceptions. Trading card products, Magic: The Gathering included, are treated as as-is and can carry restocking and cancellation fees. Opened or possibly tampered trading card product can be refused for return, and cancelling a card preorder after the distributor's preorder window closes may carry a fee. Orders over $30 ship free, with a few exclusions such as print-on-demand merchandise and spray paint, and most orders carry no sales tax.

The local scene

Dark Mountain Games in Springfield is the closest other store, about 5 miles away. Claremont has several more roughly 10 to 11 miles out: Nic's Naks & Games, Joeys Dream Card Shop, Epic Sports Collectibles and The Magic Mushroom. For a card show, Lot of Cards' Thursday Night Show is about 57 miles away, with its next date on November 19, 2026.
