About
Cardboard Memories Sports Memorabilia is a sports memorabilia and trading card shop in Commack, Long Island, New York, built around autographed items, graded and raw cards, and team collectibles. It has operated since 1992 and suits collectors who want authenticated signed pieces, especially Yankees, Knicks and Giants material, as well as people with a collection or an autograph-heavy item to consign.
The stock is organized by sport: baseball, basketball, football, NCAA football, golf, hockey, wrestling, NASCAR, tennis and boxing, plus soccer and other sports. By type, the store carries signed baseballs and bats, basketballs, footballs, football helmets, hockey pucks, jerseys, photographs and trading cards. Individual player collections currently center on names such as Jalen Brunson, Aaron Judge, Jaxson Dart, Tom Brady, Victor Wembanyama, Michael Jordan and Lionel Messi. Yankees memorabilia has its own section, and Knicks pieces are a current focus, including ticket collections tied to the 2026 NBA Finals run.
Pricing runs from modest to serious. Recent examples include a signed Abdul Carter NY Giants authentic helmet at $659.99, a 1996 Yankees team-signed baseball with 14 signatures including Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada at $599.99, and a Knicks Road to the Championship ticket collection at $118.
Every item comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Autographed pieces are obtained directly from the athlete or through trusted industry partners, and the owner, who has served as a consultant for James Spence Authentication (JSA), will not sell an item he is not confident is authentic. The store works with authentication and licensing names including Steiner Sports, Fanatics/Topps, Upper Deck Authenticated, PSA/DNA, MLB Authentication, Tristar and SGC.
Sellers can submit items for consignment, which starts with an internal appraisal. A second service is aimed at nonprofits: the store supplies memorabilia on consignment for live and silent auctions, golf outings and galas at no cost to the organization, and it takes no percentage of sales. An item that draws no bid is returned at no cost, and items in these packages range from about $10 to $2,000. A store representative oversees each event. Past charity partners include The Mickey Mantle Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, The American Heart Association and The David Cone Foundation.
Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving an item, provided it is unworn or unused, with tags, in original packaging. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method within 10 business days. Pre-order items are non-refundable, and they usually ship within 3 business days after the signing is completed.
The store also sells online and ships worldwide. Orders go out within 1 to 2 business days and most arrive within 5 to 7 business days. Shipping is free on orders over $29 within the contiguous United States, and smaller orders pay $4.95. FedEx is the preferred carrier, with UPS and USPS also used. International buyers cover duties and taxes. New York customers pay 8.625% sales tax.
The store is in Commack, Long Island, in the Meat Farms Shopping Center at 114 Commack Road after a move to that location. It has been a physical storefront in Commack for more than 34 years. The store's phone number is (631) 462-1919.
The owner has built the business over more than three decades. He appeared in the premiere episode of the Netflix series The King of Collectibles, released in April 2023, and has also been featured on HBO's Real Sports and ABC's Ball Boys, in New York Islanders MSG Network commercials, and in a cameo in the film The Brawler.
