L1: HeartGold Collection is a Japanese Pokémon TCG expansion from the LEGEND era, with a release date of October 9, 2009 and the set code L1: HG. It carries 71 catalog printings, built around the Johto starters and their evolutions. Ho-Oh Legend, Ampharos, Blissey, Donphan and Feraligatr each appear in two versions, and the headline cards are the two Ho-Oh Legend pieces that head the card list. It arrived as the format moved to the two-piece LEGEND card design, so the set reads as the opening of that era's Johto run.
The rarity ladder in L1: HeartGold Collection runs from commons and uncommons up through rares and holo rares to six chase-tier cards: four Super Rare Holo cards and two Rare Holo LEGEND cards. The most valuable cards are both Ho-Oh Legend printings, ranked 1st and 2nd, followed by the Holo Rare Arcanine, the Super Rare Holo Feraligatr and the Super Rare Holo Blissey. Value is fairly spread for a set this size, with the top five cards holding 49 percent of the set's total card value, so the Ho-Oh Legend pair matters most but does not account for everything.
As of October 2026, L1: HeartGold Collection ranks 5th of the 5 comparable LEGEND sets by total card value, at 0.8 times the era median, and its top card also ranks 5th in the era. Trading activity tells a different story, with the set ranking 1st in the era for volume. Across the whole game it sits 99th of 189 comparable sets by total value. It followed Pt4: Advent of Arceus, which holds more total value, and came before L2: Revival Legends, which also holds more. Its cards carried over to English in HeartGold SoulSilver, released February 10, 2010, four months after the Japanese original.

A full run of L1: HeartGold Collection is 71 printings, and 62 of them are priced. With about half the value sitting in five cards, the cost of a complete set is driven mostly by the two Ho-Oh Legend printings and a few other high-ranked cards, while the commons and uncommons fill in cheaply by comparison. Collectors working the set will find the Johto evolution lines, with their doubled printings of names like Ampharos and Donphan, make up a large part of the checklist.
