Awakening Legends is a Japanese Pokémon TCG expansion from the Neo era, released on November 23, 2000 under its own set code and sitting between Crossing the Ruins... and Darkness, and to Light... in the release order. It is a compact set of 57 catalogued printings. What defines it is a headline run of Johto Pokémon led by Ho-Oh, Celebi, Entei, Suicune and Raikou, all printed as holo rares, which makes the card list read as a roll call of the region's biggest names rather than a deck-building set.
Awakening Legends was released November 23, 2000.
Awakening Legends has 57 cards.
Awakening Legends is part of the Neo era.
Ho-Oh, at $211.67, as of October 27, 2026.
The rarity structure in Awakening Legends is short: commons and uncommons fill the base of the pack, 17 holo rares sit above them, and just 2 Super Rare Holo cards form the chase tier. The most valuable cards are all holo rares, with Ho-Oh in first place, then Celebi, Houndoom and Entei. Because Ho-Oh and the Johto beasts carry so much weight, the top five cards alone hold 51 percent of the set's total card value, so the chase cards are concentrated in a small cluster of names.
As of October 2026, Awakening Legends holds the 3rd highest total card value of the 4 comparable Neo sets, about equal to the era median, and its Ho-Oh ranks 4th among the era's single most valuable cards. It also ranks 4th for trading activity in its era and 42nd for total card value across the whole game. It followed Crossing the Ruins..., which holds more total value, and came before Darkness, and to Light..., which also holds more. Its cards reached English players in Neo Revelation, which arrived 9 months after this Japanese release and shares 51 cards with it.

A full run of Awakening Legends means tracking down all 57 catalogued printings, and 55 of them currently carry a market price. With 51 percent of the set's value sitting in five holo rares, the cost of completing it is driven mostly by those few headline names, while the commons and uncommons are a small part of the total. The card list stays manageable for a vintage Japanese expansion, so the work lies in finding clean copies of the top cards.
