About
Twilight Comics is a comic and tabletop shop at 208 Frank Scott Pkwy E, Suite 6, in Swansea, Illinois. It has been in business since 1993, which makes it one of the longer-running comic shops in the Southern Illinois and St. Louis metro area. It suits readers who want new releases and back issues, and anyone with a collection to sell, more than it suits a player looking for a nightly tournament schedule.
The store carries new and classic comics, graphic novels and tabletop games. Daily offers over the years have covered manga, role-playing games, board games, dice, used media, t-shirts, plushies, Little Golden Books, mystery boxes and Magic repacks, which gives a fair picture of how far the stock reaches beyond the monthly comic releases.
Readers can subscribe to a pull list for comic series and graphic novels. A book that is not in stock can be ordered on request by asking at the counter, and staff will check availability and confirm with the customer. Part of the stock is also sold online, though selection and pricing can differ from what is on the physical shelves.
Twilight Comics is an Authorized Member Dealer for CGC, the third-party comic grading company, and has been since CGC began. The store offers CGC fast track options and CGCxJSA autograph authentication.
The store buys graphic novels, comics and tabletop games, paying cash or up to double the value in store credit. Sellers are asked to describe what they have, ideally with photos, and the store looks over the details before arranging a time for an in-person evaluation. Potentially significant books are evaluated separately. Large collections should be arranged in advance, because space at the store is limited and bigger evaluations may need to be planned.
Returns are accepted within 15 days of purchase with a receipt, for store credit only, and items must come back unused and in original condition. Some collectibles may be ineligible, and discounted and sale items are final sale.
A Bonus Card earns one stamp for every $15 spent before tax on regular-priced items, and a full card is worth $10 off. Military, EMT, firefighter and law enforcement customers receive a 5% discount, rising to 10% for those in uniform.
Events here are built around comic-shop holidays and promotions rather than weekly game nights. The 2026 calendar included Marvel 616 Day on June 16, Free Graphic Novel Day on August 1 (11 AM to 5 PM, with a free graphic novel of your choice while supplies last), and Batman Day on September 19 (noon to 4 PM).
The long-running Sale-A-Day Calendar is the store's signature promotion. The July 2026 edition offered a different deal each day, such as $17.76 off a $50 purchase and buy-one-get-one 75% off select categories. It also added a sticker reward: each day's visit earned a Liberty Star sticker, and 13 stickers redeemed for a $25 gift card. The store was closed Saturday, July 4.
Twilight Comics opened on January 1, 1993, and was incorporated as Twilight Gaming & Comics, Inc. in 1997. The owners' stated reason for doing it is the pleasure of introducing a new reader or player to a first comic or a first tabletop game.
