The Game Bunker

The Game Bunker is a hobby and card store at 671 Jamestown Dr Unit r-6 in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, with Warhammer as its centerpiece and Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering on the card side. It suits miniature painters and army builders first, and players who want a Wednesday league night with a late close.

What's on the shelves

Games Workshop is the deepest part of the stock. The range covers Warhammer 40K, Age of Sigmar, The Old World, Horus Heresy, Kill Team, Necromunda, Legions Imperialis, Warhammer Underworlds, Blood Bowl and the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game, along with Black Library books. Beyond Games Workshop, the store carries Battletech, Starcraft, Heroscape, Warlord Games lines such as Bolt Action and Hail Caesar, and Frostgrave and Oathmark miniatures.

Hobby supplies fill out the walls: Citadel, Army Painter and Monument Hobbies paints, brushes, dice, basing material, weathering supplies and pigments. Gundam and other plastic model kits, board games and role-playing products are stocked as well.

For cards, the store carries Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering.

Most items sell online as well as in the shop, with free shipping on orders over $145 and a 15% discount applied automatically at checkout on most items.

Commission painting

The store keeps a commission painter on staff with decades of experience, booked by appointment over the phone. Work comes in three tiers. The Hobby standard is clean base coats with a few highlights, the level also called Battle Ready. The Regimental standard adds shading and picked-out details and is the usual choice for painting a whole army. The Hero standard is very high detail with shading and edge highlights. Finished painted armies also appear on the shelf as ready-made miniatures.

Weekly play

The store stays open later than its usual Wednesday hours to run it.

Returns

Online orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery if the item is unused and in its original packaging with proof of purchase. A 20% restocking fee and $12.99 return shipping apply, and a return must be requested before anything is sent back. Sale items and gift cards cannot be returned.
