The Forge Hobbies & Games

The Forge Hobbies & Games is a tabletop game store on Memorial Drive in Houston, built as a medieval-themed hall where card players, miniature wargamers, roleplayers, board gamers and painters share the same space. Its card side covers Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, One Piece Card Game and Flesh and Blood, and its calendar runs events seven nights a week. It suits players who want a table to sit at on short notice and hobbyists who want cards and miniatures under one roof.

What's on the shelves

The trading card wall is sealed product only: boosters, bundles and preconstructed decks for Magic, Pokémon, One Piece, Flesh and Blood, Gundam, Star Wars: Unlimited and Riftbound. There are no singles cases and no bulk bins, so this is a store for opening and building from product rather than hunting for individual cards. Riftbound has been supported since its October 2025 launch.

Cards are only one part of the stock. Warhammer holds the deepest shelf space, and the store also carries board games, including Twilight Imperium as regular stock, along with roleplaying games and a full hobby section. The paint wall carries Citadel, Vallejo, AK Interactive, Army Painter and Pro Acryl.

Playing in the store

More than 20 gaming tables are dressed with free-to-use in-store terrain, and an open paint station runs during all store hours. Open-play tables are walk-in and cannot be reserved. Two private RPG rooms can be booked up to four weeks ahead, and event seats and private rooms are booked through Square. First-timers get a one-on-one, staff-led demo at the front table using small store demo sets.

Weekly play

The Pokémon tournament is run by a certified Pokémon judge, and the store hosts Pokémon pre-release events when new sets drop.

Miniature and special events

Warhammer 40K events fill much of the calendar. Competitive Warhammer 40K RTTs land on the second Saturday of each month, and Horus Heresy runs monthly on the third Saturday. New releases arrive every Saturday, when the store opens at 10 AM.

Hours and getting there

The store sits across from Fire Station 78 at Memorial and Eldridge in Houston.

History

The store opened December 3, 2021, founded by its owner with the late Dallas Collett, whom the community remembers as the Forgemaster.
