TBS Comics & Games

TBS Comics & Games is a comic and game store at 550 Mary Esther Cut Off NW in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, behind the Longhorn Steakhouse. It has served Northwest Florida since 1985 and runs a second location in Pensacola. It carries Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, One Piece Card Game and Disney Lorcana alongside comics and tabletop games, and it suits players who want a store with regular organized events and room to sit down and play.

What's on the shelves

Trading card games are one part of a broad stock. The Fort Walton Beach store carries Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, One Piece Card Game and Disney Lorcana, plus Gundam, Warhammer 40k, Fantasy Flight Games, board games and Dungeons & Dragons. Magic supplies are stocked at both locations, and each new Magic set is available for presale.

Comics are the store's origin and still a major part of the business. A subscription service tracks and pulls a customer's chosen titles each week. Customers can sign up in the store with a subscription card or register online, then connect to the store they use. New comics and graphic novels arrive weekly, and the store has been pulling subscriptions for collectors on the Emerald Coast for more than 30 years.

Weekly play

The Fort Walton Beach store runs a full week of organized play. Magic: The Gathering has a weekly tournament on Friday at 6 PM.

Commander open play runs the same night, casual Magic open play fills all day Wednesday, and tables are open for play all week during store hours.

Magic at the store

Magic is the store's flagship game. Commander is the format to know here, with open play on Friday nights and help on hand for anyone who has not played it before. The store has a long record of running Magic events, including Prerelease weekends for sets such as Kaladesh, Aether Revolt, Hour of Devastation and Rivals of Ixalan, and a Star City Games Modern Invitational Qualifier on April 13.

Free Comic Book Day

The store takes part in Free Comic Book Day on the first Saturday in May, with free comics, raffles and games, and costumes welcome. No purchase is needed to join in. In 2026 the date was Saturday, May 2.

History

The store opened in 1985 and later moved into the Fort Walton Beach space it occupies today. The Pensacola store, TBS Comics II, sits at 6895 North 9th Avenue on the corner of 9th and Creighton, next to Batteries and Bulbs. Both stores sell comics, games and cards, and the two keep separate event calendars.
