About
TableTop Game & Hobby is a non-electronic games store in the Regent Park shopping center at 91st and Metcalf in Overland Park, Kansas. It has served the Kansas City hobby community since 1994 and focuses on board games, miniature games and role-playing games. It suits tabletop players and hobby painters, and anyone who wants to try a game at a table before buying it. It is a store for the wider tabletop hobby rather than a place to buy and sell collectible cards: it does not handle second-hand collectible game cards.
The store carries board games, miniature games, role-playing games, hobby supplies, puzzles, dice and gaming accessories. Local artists stock handmade goods on the shelves too, in a geek chic vein, and artisans with product that fits can submit it for consideration. The staff are hobby people who field questions from first-time buyers up to the finer points of the hobby. Products also sell online, with the full catalog being added gradually after a stretch of maintenance.
The store accepts large collections of used RPGs and pays in store credit or cash. Staff evaluate a collection and give a quote, and sellers arrange it through the front desk. Used board games are not being accepted at this time, and second-hand collectible game cards are not handled.
The game room runs straight through to Cardboard Corner Cafe, a cafe and bar next door that the store is partnered with. There is a mix of tables for any game or group size, with no cover charge. Customers are simply asked to support the space with a drink, a bite to eat or a purchase. The game room is open during the cafe's normal operating hours.
The cafe also keeps a library of more than 800 games that customers can play for free, so a game can be tried before it is bought. Players are asked to treat the games as their own and put every die, piece and bit back before boxes return to the shelves. The cafe keeps a recommendations binder for anyone unsure what to pick. Tables are not reserved, but private rooms can be rented for groups that want their own space.
The game room regularly hosts weekly events and Open Play nights. Classes, run together with the cafe, teach people how to play and run games and how to model and paint gaming miniatures. The atmosphere is family friendly, and the store has aimed for more than 30 years to foster the local gaming community. Game Store Day is planned for November 7, 2026.
Returns require items in new and unused condition and proof of purchase, which can be a store receipt, a price tag or a store gift tag. Consignment items, gemstone dice, opened and used products and clearance items cannot be returned. For a defective item, most of the publishers the store carries prefer that the customer deal with them directly to replace damaged or missing components, and the store helps with replacements. All other returns are at the discretion of management.
The store is open every day at 9156 Metcalf Ave in Overland Park, in a shopping center that also holds Micro Center and Natural Grocers.

The store opened in 1994, which makes it one of the longer-running tabletop shops in the Kansas City area. The more recent addition is the partnership with Cardboard Corner, which put a cafe, bar, private gaming rooms and the large game library right next door.
