Sumrall Games and Grub

Sumrall Games and Grub is a gaming café and card store at 926 MS-42 in Sumrall, Mississippi, built around the idea that you should be able to eat, drink coffee and play in the same room. It stocks trading card games and Warhammer alongside board games, runs a regular Magic: The Gathering night, and adds virtual reality to the mix. It suits casual players and groups who want a place to sit down for an evening, not just a counter to buy product.

What's on the shelves

The store carries Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, the One Piece Card Game and Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Star Wars card games are part of the selection too. Warhammer and a broad range of board games round out the retail side. Tabletop role-playing games are played in the space as well.

The café side

The business also operates as Dragons Roast Cafe. The menu covers specialty coffee, burgers, chicken sandwiches, sides and ice cream, so a long game night does not require a trip out for dinner. For a group that plans to sit through a draft, that is the practical draw of the place.

Weekly play

Magic is the anchor of the event calendar.

Sunday is the busiest day for card players, with a Star Wars draft in the afternoon followed by the Magic draft at 6 PM.

Virtual reality

Beyond cards and board games, the store offers VR games and VR escape rooms. That makes it a reasonable stop for a mixed group where not everyone wants to play cards.

Organized play

No sanctioned organized-play programs are confirmed for the store, and no tournaments are currently scheduled. The Sunday and Friday Magic nights are the regular, recurring play.
