About
Source Comics & Games is a 10,000-square-foot comic and game store at 2057 Snelling Ave N in Roseville, Minnesota, with comics, tabletop games, role-playing games, trading card games, books and novelties under one roof. It suits comic readers who want a pull list, tabletop players who want a room to play in, and Pokémon collectors who buy sealed product rather than singles.
Comics are the foundation. The back issue section runs to more than 100 titles, and new releases arrive every week. Beyond comics, the store carries games, role-playing games, trading card games, books, models, toys, collectibles, gaming supplies and novelties, along with unusual beverages.
The Pokémon section is large and built around booster packs. The store does not sell Pokémon singles. It also does not carry sports cards, video games or DVDs, so it is a place for physical games, comics, books and supplies rather than a singles counter.
The free pull service is the store's most developed offer. A customer gives the store a list of series, and each Wednesday, when new comics arrive and before they go on sale, staff set the latest issues aside in bags with subscribers' names on them. Subscribers are notified Wednesday morning, starting when the store opens.
Pulled books are held for one week from their release date. Anyone who needs more time can call, email or ask in the store, and the store will hold them longer. When a book is available in limited quantities, such as a variant cover, copies go first-come, first-served by the order in which pull requests were made. Lists can be set up in the store, by phone or by email, and subscribers can also manage their own list through League of Comic Geeks, where the cutoff for ordering is midnight on the Saturday before release.
Special orders are placed at no additional cost when the item is in stock at the store's distributor, and payment is due when the order arrives. This covers games, comics, novelties, trade paperbacks, books and supplies.
The Adventure Club Card is a store discount card worth 10% off everything in the store, with a $10 fee at sign-up and an annual renewal. It does not apply to event entries, artisan items or consignment.
The store holds a firm harassment policy for the shop and the game room. Offensive comments or harassment of any kind lead to immediate removal without a prior warning, and the policy covers a long list of specific behaviors, including deliberate misgendering, stalking, intimidation and unwelcome photography.
The game room is where the store's events happen. Space is limited but growing, and people sign up for events through the event calendar, with priority given to those who have reserved ahead of time. Some events require paid tickets. Reserving the room for parties or gaming groups is free, subject to availability around the scheduled events, and private events can be booked through the store.
The store is open every day, with a shorter Sunday. It closes at 5 PM on July 4th, December 24th and December 31st, and it is closed on Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, December 25th and January 1st.
