About
Showgoat Cards & Collectibles is a card shop in Metairie, Louisiana, on the South I-10 Service Road West. It covers the full run of the hobby, from baseball and other sports cards to Pokémon, with singles and sealed wax across vintage and modern eras. It suits collectors who want a shop that buys, sells, trades and grades under one roof.
Fresh stock runs from vintage to modern and from baseball to Pokémon. Singles span a wide price range, from dime cards up to high-end graded cards. A customer who wants a card the store doesn't have on hand can ask, and the shop will keep an eye out for it.
Trading is part of the routine. The store trades cards with customers as well as buying and selling them.
The store buys singles, graded and ungraded, vintage and modern. The percentage it pays on singles depends on the value and liquidity of the items being sold. It also buys collections, whether the seller is a seasoned collector, new to the hobby or has just acquired a box of cards. Collection values are laid out openly, and offers are made at set percentages based on what the collection contains.
Sealed wax is bought too, along with any cards that hold value. The shop aims to pay as much as it can given the market and where it expects to resell the item.
One limit worth knowing before you haul a collection in: the store typically does not buy cards or sealed wax from the junk era, roughly 1986 to 1993.
A buyback program called MVP Buyback is also part of the store's offerings.
The store submits cards for grading weekly to PSA, SGC and BGS. For anyone unsure what to send in, staff will look over your cards and give guidance on what to grade, which company to use, and a rough estimate of where each card's grade may come back. That advice is useful for a first submission, when the choice of grader and the question of whether a card is worth grading are the hard parts.
The shop sits at 3220 S I-10 Service Rd W in Metairie.
Metairie has a cluster of other card and hobby stores close by.
