Secret Door Games

Secret Door Games is a downtown Elkhart game store at 215 S Main St, built more around the table than the display case. It carries board games, card games, miniature games, role-playing games, gaming accessories, hobby painting supplies and gifts, and it has been open since Labor Day weekend in 2015. For card players, Magic: The Gathering and Disney Lorcana are the games it hosts regular events for, and the open tables make it as much a place to play as a place to shop.

What's on the shelves

Board games are the core of the stock, with card games, miniature games and role-playing games alongside. Gaming accessories, hobby painting supplies and unique gifts round out the shelves. On the card side, the store supports Magic: The Gathering and Disney Lorcana, and the staff will help newer players find a starting point in the hobby.

Playing in the store

Open gaming is free whenever the store is open and a table is available. Space can run short on Fridays, so a group planning a Friday session should expect to share the room. Open gaming runs every night, and solo visitors are welcome to come in and meet local players.

More than 200 board game demos are available to play when a table is free, including Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Pandemic, Arkham Horror, Return to Dark Tower and Shovel Knight. Regular Learn to Play events teach the featured games, which suits anyone who wants a guided first session rather than reading a rulebook at the table.

Private games can be arranged during the slower nights, which gives groups a way to book space for a campaign or a longer session.

Events

The store holds weekly gaming events and hosts regular events for Magic: The Gathering, Lorcana and various role-playing games. Days and times vary, so it is worth confirming a particular night before building a trip around it.

Hours and getting there

The store sits at 215 S Main St in downtown Elkhart. Evening hours run late Thursday through Saturday, and Sunday closes early.

Monday is the only day the doors open as late as 4 PM.

History

The store opened on Labor Day weekend in 2015 as a friendly, inviting space for board game enthusiasts in downtown Elkhart. That mission still shapes the place: free open tables, a deep demo library and teaching events come first, and the card games sit inside that welcoming, play-first setup.
