Sarge & Red's Toys and Collectibles

Sarge & Red's Toys and Collectibles is an independently owned specialty toy store at 45157 Van Dyke Ave in Utica, Michigan, just north of Hall Rd and across from Trinity. It has been open since 2013 and is built around vintage and modern toys, action figures, collectibles and memorabilia, with cards alongside them. It suits toy collectors and nostalgia hunters first, and Magic: The Gathering players who want a card counter inside a toy shop rather than a dedicated game store.

What's on the shelves

The core of the stock is figures: vintage and modern toys, action figures and pop culture memorabilia, chosen with an eye to condition and quality. Cards sit alongside them, and Magic: The Gathering is the game the store carries. The store also sells gift cards and its own Sarge and Red's merchandise.

Buying toy collections

Selling is a real part of the business. The store buys toy collections of all sizes, from loose figures and boxed items to mixed lots pulled from basements, attics, closets and storage units. Sellers do not need to know what they have: the buyer walks through the collection and explains what matters and why, with no obligation to sell. For very large collections, the store will come to the seller rather than asking them to move everything.

The lines it wants most are He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Star Wars, Transformers, G.I. Joe and Monster High. It also buys Marvel and DC figures, Power Rangers, WWF and WWE wrestling figures, LEGO, Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering.

Events

Celebrity appearances are the store's signature event. On Sunday, November 22, 2026, from noon to 3 PM, Zack Ward, who played the bully Scut Farkus in A Christmas Story, appears in the shop. Admission is free and the store stays open for regular shopping, while autographs and photos are sold as paid packages:

The shop's own parking lot is closed for the event, so visitors use nearby public lots.

A wrestling autograph and photo event has also been held at the shop. The store has no regular weekly game nights or organized-play programs.
