Rui Yong Hobby

Rui Yong Hobby is a Brooklyn hobby shop at 5519 4th Ave whose main business is model kits and RC gear, with a small card-game side. The shop carries the One Piece Card Game and the Dragon Ball Super Card Game, so it suits collectors and builders who want both in one stop, more than players looking for a tournament room.

What's on the shelves

The core of the shop is model hobby supplies. The catalog covers RC models, including RC cars, Mini-Z, helicopters, drones and airplanes, along with tires and wheels, radios, servos, batteries, car paints, car bodies, oils and glue, wire and connectors, and aircraft motors. Tamiya Mini 4WD is a full category of its own, with chassis lines (AR, MA, MS, VS and Super), mini parts, motors, bodies and tools.

Bandai kits are the other big draw. Gundam builders will find kits in the MG, RG, HG, 1/100, SD and PG ranges, plus model paints and tools for finishing them. Static models cover motorcycles, cars, ships, aircraft and military subjects. Necklaces are also sold.

On the card side, One Piece and Dragon Ball are the two lines stocked, shelved alongside Bandai accessories, tools and paints. Star Wars items also appear in the catalog.

Store policies

Shipping is free on paint and tool orders of $100 or more, and on Mini 4WD and small-parts orders of $60 or more. A membership program and an affiliate program are both available, and the shop maintains hobby community groups for RC and Mini 4WD enthusiasts and for gamers.

Orders can be picked up locally in Brooklyn rather than shipped. Pickup is at the UPS parking lot at 1623 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11210, which is a different address from the shop's street address on 4th Ave, so confirm which one applies before heading out.

Getting there

The shop's address is 5519 4th Ave, Brooklyn. No organized-play program is confirmed and there is no regular weekly event schedule, so treat it as a place to shop and pick up rather than a regular play venue.
