About
MyExtraCards is a card store at 100 N Clinton Ave in St. Johns, Michigan, with a second location in Harrison. It carries Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering and sports cards, and its roots are in sports: the business grew out of a family collection that started with cards sold from a basement in the 1980s. The St. Johns shop suits sports card collectors, Magic players looking for a Friday night tournament, and Pokémon players who want a local prerelease.
Sports cards are the core of the stock. The store sells millions of single sports cards, from high-value pieces to the commons needed to finish a set, plus hobby boxes for every major sport. Graded sports cards, autographed and signed cards, and memorabilia are part of the mix, and baseball, basketball, football, hockey and other sports each have their own section.
Beyond sports, the store sells Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering products, along with Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar, including army sets, combat patrols and painted terrain. For storage, it stocks soft and hard sleeves, cases and boxes, and case quantities are available on most supplies for customers buying in bulk.
The St. Johns store runs a regular event schedule built around Magic, with open play and a Pokémon prerelease on the calendar.
| Day | Time | Event |
|---|---|---|
| Tuesday | 6 PM to 8 PM | Magic: The Gathering Commander League |
| Wednesday | 4 PM to 8 PM | Open play |
| Friday | 6 PM to 8 PM | Magic: The Gathering Friday Night Magic |
Friday Night Magic is the weekly tournament; the Commander League gives multiplayer players a night of their own earlier in the week.
The St. Johns store hosts a Pokémon prerelease for the Delta Reign set on Wednesday, October 28, from 5:30 PM to 8 PM. The Harrison location runs its own prerelease the evening before, on Tuesday, October 27, from 5 PM to 7 PM, and holds weekly Pokémon battles on Wednesday afternoons from 4 PM to 6 PM.
The store also runs live selling sessions for sports singles and boxes: baseball singles on Monday afternoons from 3 PM to 5 PM and Football Fridays on Friday mornings from 9 AM to 11 AM.
Preorders ship only on the product's official release day, and pre-sale orders are final, with no refunds or credits after purchase, since collectible prices can move before and after release. Returns of other items must be unopened and in good condition, with the buyer covering return shipping; the refund is the original purchase amount less the original shipping cost and payment processing fees.
Shipping within the US is free on purchases made through the store's mobile app and web orders, and orders usually ship after about two business days of handling. Customers who register can join a discount program for returning shoppers, and first-time customers can use a code for 5% off a first order. The mobile app is free in the Apple and Google app stores.
The St. Johns store is at 100 N Clinton Ave, St. Johns, Michigan 48879. Another card store, Norm's Hobby, is also in St. Johns. The Harrison store is at 181 W Main Street, Harrison, Michigan 48625.
Steve O'Day started selling sports trading cards out of his basement in the 1980s, and his personal collection kept growing. Over the past ten years his two sons joined as collectors and business partners, and the three still run the business as a hobby they collect in themselves. The goal is a one-stop destination for sports card collecting needs, serving beginners and experienced collectors alike.
The Flint Weekly Card & Collectibles Show, about 47 miles away, has upcoming dates on November 3, November 10 and November 17, 2026.
