Main Line Chess and Games

Main Line Chess and Games is a game room and hobby shop in downtown Paoli, Pennsylvania, just off Route 30. It is a chess club first, with lessons, classes and tournaments running nearly every day, and a Magic: The Gathering room second. It suits players who want a place to sit down and play casually, whether the game is chess, tabletop or a card game.

Games and play

Casual play is open any time the doors are, across tabletop games, fantasy card games and chess. Magic: The Gathering is the card game with a regular schedule, with drafts and constructed events each week. Yu-Gi-Oh! is carried, but it is a planned addition to the event lineup rather than a running program, and Force of Will is also planned. Other gaming events are open to suggestion from the people who come in.

Chess

Chess is the store's backbone. Classes, lessons and tournaments run almost daily, hosted by an International Master. A Paoli Chess Club meets on Wednesday evenings, open to all skill levels and completely free. Saturday has a novice scholastic session at noon.

Sunday brings a Quads tournament, a four-player section format with a time control of game in 60 minutes with a five-second delay. Entry is $20, and players who finish 3-0 win $40 or $50. Registration opens at noon, and rounds start at 12:15, 2:30 and 4:45, or as soon as the previous round finishes.

Weekly card events

Monday is casual Commander, with a Conspiracy draft as the alternative on some weeks, and Friday is the Friday Night Magic draft.
