Level 1 Games

Level 1 Games is a local game store on State Rt 23 in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, built around Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon. It sells singles and sealed product for both games, along with retro video games, Blu-rays and figures, and it has a play space where players of all skill levels are welcome. The store is open seven days a week, which makes it easy to fit in a visit around work or school.

What's on the shelves

Singles are the core of the inventory, with a stock of more than 40k across Magic and Pokémon. Sealed product for both games sits alongside them. Beyond cards, the store carries retro video games and consoles, Blu-rays and figures, so a trip can cover more than one hobby.

The store also buys. Magic and Pokémon cards, retro games and consoles can be sold for cash or store credit.

Weekly play

The store runs events on four days of the week, including Friday night drafts, Saturday afternoon Pokémon League and Casual Commander nights.

Commander nights do not allow proxies or fake cards, and the shop is open for free play when no event is scheduled.

Prereleases and reservations

Prerelease seats sell out fast, and they can be reserved by phone. Product can also be reserved ahead of time, though reservations are not assured and are subject to change, so confirm a hold before making the trip for a specific product.

The seven-day schedule and the Commander, draft and Pokémon League nights make it a reasonable default for a local playgroup.
