Lakeside Comics

Lakeside Comics is a comic shop at 95 Pine Hill Dr in Jackson, Kentucky, with a catalog built around collectible comics: exclusive variant covers, graded slabs and Bronze and Silver Age back issues. Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon are carried too, and the store buys collections in all three categories. It suits collectors chasing limited-run covers and people with a collection to sell.

What's on the shelves

Comics are the core. The store sells exclusive variant covers, many of them foil or virgin editions limited to a few hundred copies, with print runs such as 400, 500 and 777 copies common among current titles. Prices on in-stock exclusives run from about $10 to $50. Amazing Spider-Man Bronze Age and Silver Age back issues are part of the stock, including Newsstand editions from Mark Jewelers.

Graded comics are a separate category. The store sells CGC and CBCS graded slabs, with recent examples priced at $124.99 and $249.99 for 9.8-grade copies. Pre-orders, toys, statues and other collectibles round out the range, and gift certificates are available from $10 to $100.

Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon round out the card side of the business, which the store buys as well as sells.

Buying collections

The store buys comic collections of all ages, from golden age to current books. Magic and Pokémon collections are also bought. Condition drives the offer: the better shape a collection is in, the more the store pays. The store has deep stock already, so a collection it cannot use is politely declined. Sellers start by sending a list of what they have.

Store policies

The store runs a Buy 2 Get 1 Free promotion on a selected group of its exclusives. A customer adds two variants from that group to the cart and receives a third of equal or lesser value at no charge. The discount is applied automatically at checkout to the lowest-priced item, and all the books must be in the cart at the time. Not every exclusive is part of the promotion.

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving an item, provided it is in the condition it was received in and the buyer has proof of purchase. A return must be requested first, since items sent back without a request are not accepted. Items ordered for CGC grading, sale items and gift cards cannot be returned. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method within 2 to 7 days.

Orders of $100 or more ship free within the USA.
