House Rules Game

House Rules Game is a game store at 411 N Bishop Ave in Dallas, in the Bishop Arts area. It carries trading card games alongside board games and roleplaying games, and it is open every day of the week. The mix suits someone who plays more than one kind of tabletop game, or who wants to pick up a card game and a board game in one trip.

What's on the shelves

Trading cards are one part of a broader tabletop stock. The card games carried are Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Flesh and Blood and the Digimon Card Game. The store also sells board games, with new releases and refreshed editions of older titles moving through the shelves, and a roleplaying section that covers Dungeons & Dragons 5E.

The indie roleplaying selection is a real strength. It runs from Kickstarter bundles and box sets to hardcover rulebooks, with titles such as Daggerheart: Hope and Fear, Pirate Borg, Cairn 2nd Edition, Fabula Ultima and the Alien RPG core rules. Most of those books come with a free PDF with purchase.

The store also sells merchandise and gift cards. The full catalog can be ordered online, with shipping at a flat $10 or free on most orders over $150 before tax in the lower 48 states. Orders that are cancelled and refunded before pickup carry a 5% restocking fee.

Store policies

Returns are accepted for a full refund within 2 weeks of purchase, as long as the item is sealed in its original packaging and undamaged and the customer has a receipt or proof of purchase. Trading card game products are the exception and cannot be returned for a refund.
