Hobby Spirit

Hobby Spirit is a family-run gaming and anime hobby store at 5639 Harris Hill Rd in Clarence, New York. It deals in trading cards and Japanese imports, carries only genuine licensed products, and keeps a gaming space open for play. It suits players who want a full week of low-cost organized play across a wide spread of card games, and collectors who like their card shopping mixed with figures, model kits and RPG books.

What's on the shelves

Cards are the center of the store. Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, One Piece Card Game, Flesh and Blood, Star Wars: Unlimited and Weiss Schwarz are the main games, and the event calendar adds Union Arena, Gundam Card Game, Riftbound League of Legends, hololive, Godzilla Card Game and Argent Saga to the mix. Singles are a major part of the business, and the store also stocks accessories such as play-mats and Ultimate Guard items.

The Japanese side of the store is deep. Imports include Transformers Masterpiece and Diaclone figures from Takara Tomy, Macross pieces from Bandai Spirits, Pokémon scale figures, Gunpla and Gundam kits, and Kotobukiya model kits. Beyond that, shelves hold Pathfinder 2E books, flip-mats and dice, along with comics, DVD and Blu-Ray titles, toys, and a handful of video games and CDs.

Events

Organized play runs most nights of the week, and the entry fee for a regular store tournament is $5. The upcoming calendar shows how wide the coverage is:

Most of these run in recurring blocks through early January 2027, so the table reflects a standing rotation.

The calendar also holds larger one-off events. A Pokémon TCG PokéSpirit prerelease is set for October 30, 2026 at $30. A Gundam Card Game booster pack release event follows on October 31 from 3:30 to 5:30 PM, also $30. The PokéSpirit Quarterly League Cup runs on October 31 from 11 AM to 6 PM for $20. A Magic: The Gathering Star Trek prerelease is planned for November 6 from 6:30 to 10 PM at $49.99.
