About
Hall of Fame Baseball Cards is a family-owned sports card and memorabilia shop at 509 S Myrtle Ave in the Old Town Monrovia shopping district. It has been in business since 1981, which makes it one of the longer-running card shops in the area, and it serves baseball, basketball, football and soccer collectors alike. It suits people who want fresh hobby product and a buyer for their cards, and anyone who needs help sending cards in for grading.
The shop is built around sealed sports product. Hobby boxes, blasters, mega boxes and value boxes run across baseball, basketball, football and soccer, with recent baseball releases from Topps, Bowman and Panini alongside basketball, football and WNBA product. Soccer collectors can find Topps Official Club Collector tins, sold individually or as a five-tin bundle with Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Paris St. Germain. Card protectors, cases and other supplies are stocked, and memorabilia is sold with a certificate of authenticity from the shop or another trusted sports authenticator. A showcase of cards recently pulled in the shop highlights hits from opened product.
Preorders for upcoming releases run constantly. Local pickup orders must be collected within 12 standard business days.
The shop buys collections, paying up to 90% of comparable sales values. Walk-in customers can get a quick, broad look at a box of cards to see whether anything is worth a closer examination. Written appraisals are a separate service: every card is researched and the owner receives a detailed spreadsheet with card information and current price comparisons, useful for resale or insurance purposes. Appraisals are scheduled by email appointment.
Current wants span several sports. In baseball they include Dodgers cards, Ohtani, Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki, Aaron Judge and vintage pre-1970 base cards and top players, plus low-priced graded cards and autographs. Football wants cover current rookies, Tom Brady, Matt Stafford, Rams cards and vintage greats. Basketball wants include Lakers, Kobe, Jordan, Wemby, Cooper Flagg and vintage greats, and soccer wants name Messi, Ronaldo, Yamal, Bellingham, Mbappe and Kane. Graded Pokémon cards of any kind are also wanted.
The shop accepts submissions for PSA, Beckett, SGC, CGC and TAG. Customers fill out the forms, bring them in with their cards, and the shop handles the rest for $20 a card on top of grading fees. That covers paying the upfront fees, using the shop's PSA account for club pricing, online submission, printing forms and shipping labels, packaging, shipping, tracking, and notifying the customer when the cards are ready for pickup. Submissions ship out daily, and payment can wait until later.
All sales on packs, boxes and sets of cards are final, and memorabilia is not returnable. Damaged products must be reported within 48 hours of receipt, and refunds or exchanges for damage are decided case by case by management. Orders over $199 ship free by standard 3 to 4 business day service.
The shop runs an MVP Team Rewards program: points earned on every dollar spent can be redeemed for discounts on later purchases or saved to move up through ranks.

The business began in 1981 in the owners' family garage in Arcadia as an officially licensed operation with direct accounts at Topps, Donruss and Fleer. Collectors came down the driveway on weekends to shop from shelving much like what the store uses today, and packs, boxes and cases were promoted through local newspapers and word of mouth. In 1991 the shop opened its first official storefront on Foothill Blvd. in Arcadia, where it stayed for 30 more years. In May 2021 it moved to its current Myrtle Ave. location in Monrovia.
