Gutter Pop Comics

Gutter Pop Comics is a comic book store at 1421 Hertel Ave in Buffalo, New York, built around new releases, back issues, graphic novels and manga, with Magic: The Gathering among the games it carries. It keeps a family-friendly floor and a stock that runs from current weekly issues to rare back issues, which suits readers and parents more than the tournament crowd.

What's on the shelves

Comics are the core. The store carries new releases and recent releases, a section of upcoming titles, and back issues, including a separate rare back issue category. Alongside the single issues sit graphic novels in softcover and hardcover, boxed sets and slip-cased editions.

Manga gets its own depth: manga in softcover and hardcover, light novels in both formats, and manhua and manhwa. Beyond comics, the shelves hold magazines, minicomics and zines, coloring, sticker and activity books, picture books, novels, reference books, art and reference titles, and apparel. Role playing games are stocked too, and Magic: The Gathering appears among the store's sale items.

Pricing at the low end is easy to find. Older single issues turn up at $1.99 and $2.49, current issues mostly sit between about $4.99 and $6.99, and variant covers on popular titles run a little higher. A large sale section spans franchises from Batman, Spider-Man and X-Men to Star Wars, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sailor Moon and Attack on Titan, plus a Magic the Gathering line of comics.

The store also sells online, with a shipping discount on larger orders: orders over $100 ship free with the code FreeShip100, though shipping costs do not count toward that minimum.

Store atmosphere

The store runs as a family-friendly space for all ages, and the range of stock reflects that, with picture books and all-ages titles shelved next to mature-labeled series.
