Georgetown Card Exchange

Georgetown Card Exchange is a family-owned sports and non-sports trading card shop at 299 W County Line Rd in Hatboro, Pennsylvania. It has been serving collectors and dealers since 1991 and has run a retail store since 1996. The focus is sealed boxes and factory sets from the 1990s to the present, not singles and not vintage, which makes it a stop for people chasing a box or a case rather than a single card.

The store carries sports cards and non-sports trading card boxes, primarily factory sealed boxes and sets from the 1990s to the present. The inventory of boxes is extensive, and the owners keep working to track down harder-to-find boxes. If a box is not in stock, they will try to find it for a customer who asks. Vintage items are not carried, and singles are rarely sold.

Upper Deck products are available in the retail store, including recent releases that cannot be sold through the store's online cart. Anyone after a new Upper Deck release can call ahead to ask about stock.

How the store runs

The store's reputation rests on pre-orders. A confirmed order is delivered even if a manufacturer cuts production or a price jumps, and the store does not allocate. Once an order is confirmed, the price is locked, regardless of later sell-outs or price changes. If a supplier fails to deliver, the store still acquires the product for the customer.

Larger orders sometimes qualify for an additional quantity discount, arranged by emailing the specific products and approximate numbers. Case orders are shipped double boxed for protection.

• Shipping: UPS Ground in the continental U.S. generally runs $8.00 for the first item and $1.50 for each additional item, with heavier items costing more and lighter items less.
• Billing address: orders ship only to the card's billing address, unless an alternate address is registered with the card company.
• Tax: Pennsylvania residents pay 6% sales tax, and tax-exempt buyers can fill out the appropriate forms.

History

Georgetown began as a mail order company run by a brother and sister out of their father's basement in the Philadelphia area. It grew steadily, and the retail store opened in 1996. By 2010 the business had added several warehouse locations to hold its inventory, and some of its earliest customers are still buying from it today.
