GameTime

GameTime is a specialty trading card store at 18829 Eureka Rd in Southgate, Michigan, built around buying, trading and playing Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh!. It aims to be the central gathering spot for gamers in the downriver area, and it suits players of all ages who want weekend tournaments with cash prizes alongside a counter for singles, sealed product and supplies.

What's on the shelves

The store carries singles and sealed product across Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh!, with other trading card games and collectibles in the mix. Gaming supplies fill out the stock: dice, deck boxes, sleeves and more. Grading services are available through the store. Product also ships to customers, and the store sells its own branded hoodies, shirts, backpacks, notepads and stickers.

Weekly play

Friday evening and Sunday are the core of the schedule. Yu-Gi-Oh! runs in Goat Format, and the Pokémon league meets Sunday afternoon. Casual Commander is free to play all day Sunday.

The store runs tournaments on most days, and the Saturday and Sunday events are cash prize tournaments.

Organized play and events

The Pokémon League is the store's confirmed organized-play program, meeting Sundays at 1:30 PM with a cash prize. A tentative weekend schedule adds more events on top of the weekly regulars. Saturday has Yu-Gi-Oh! Goat Format at 1 PM and Magic Modern Format at 2 PM, each with a $10 entry. Sunday adds Magic Pioneer Format at 1 PM and Yu-Gi-Oh! Advanced Format at 1:30 PM, each $10 as well, alongside the free Casual Commander table. That schedule is tentative and can shift, so treat the weekly table above as the steadier baseline.

Store policies

Discounts are offered to customers who sign up for store updates, and the same updates cover preorder deadlines, product releases, events and store announcements.

Hours and getting there

The store is open five days a week, with Monday and Tuesday by appointment only.

The address is 18829 Eureka Rd in Southgate, Michigan.

History

GameTime was founded on February 13, 2023, and was named a 2023 business of the year by public vote. Its founder previously ran The Card Castle, which operated locations in Wyandotte and Rockwood from 2003 to 2011. The motivation for the new store was that the downriver area had gone too long without a central hub for gamers.
