Gamers Grove

Gamers Grove is a family-run game store at 1212 14th St in Huntsville, Texas, a few blocks from the Sam Houston State University campus. It has been in business since 2012, and it covers the usual card games alongside miniatures, role-playing books and board games. It suits players who want room to spread out: the gaming area seats up to 72 for large tournaments.

What's on the shelves

Card games are the core of the stock. Singles are carried for Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Flesh and Blood, Disney Lorcana, Star Wars: Unlimited and the Digimon Card Game. Magic also has its own sealed range, with booster packs, booster boxes, box sets and preconstructed decks, plus an advanced singles search and a deck builder for sorting through the inventory.

Beyond cards, the store sells Warhammer 40,000, Age of Sigmar, Kill Team and other Games Workshop lines, along with BattleTech, Blood Bowl, Necromunda and further miniature games. Paints and hobby tools from Citadel, Pro Acryl, Vallejo and The Army Painter sit alongside them. Role-playing shelves carry Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder books, a range of solo role-playing titles and unpainted or painted miniatures. Board games run from children's and family games to strategy and party games.

Card supplies include sleeves, deck boxes, binders, playmats, storage, life counters and dice.

Events and organized play

Magic prerelease events for the Star Trek set are scheduled for Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7, 2026. Entry for each is $45. In past years the store has run an MTG Store Championship and a Pokemon League Challenge, and it has also hosted Regional Championship Qualifier events for Magic.

Space to play

Beyond the large-tournament seating, the store keeps dedicated miniature tables with terrain, so wargamers have a place to set up a game rather than borrowing card-table space.

Orders and policies

The store ships throughout the United States, and most orders go out within one business day. Preorders ship as early as the manufacturer allows. A preorder must be paid in full when it is placed, and it can be cancelled for a full refund any time before it ships.

Most new, unopened items can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a full refund, with prior approval. Factory-sealed items cannot be returned once opened. Single cards are returnable only if the condition is worse than listed (for cards sold as Mint/Near Mint or Slightly Played) or if the wrong card arrived. Buying collections is not currently an option: the buylist is still in testing and buy orders placed through it are not honored.

Hours and getting there

From I-45, take the 11th Street exit east, turn right on Sam Houston Ave downtown, then right on 14th Street, and the store is the first business on the right.

History

Gamers Grove opened in 2012 and is run by a father and daughter team. The store marked its 11th anniversary with a sale in April 2023.

The local scene

Several other game and collectibles shops sit close by. The Knix Comics and Games is about 0.1 miles away and Ann's Collectibles about 0.2. Games PLUS is roughly 0.4 miles off, and two Game Xchange listings are a little over a mile out. For a bigger floor, Legends Card Con is a card show about 54 miles away, with its next date on October 31, 2026.
