Gamer's Gauntlet

Gamer's Gauntlet is a trading card and tabletop game store at 20564 Hall Rd in Clinton Township, Michigan. It carries Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece Card Game, Disney Lorcana, Digimon Card Game, Star Wars: Unlimited and Dragon Ball Super Card Game, along with board games, role-playing books and miniatures supplies. It suits Magic and Pokémon collectors in particular, since the store stocks serious high-end singles and graded cards, and anyone who wants a single address for card games, board games and hobby paint.

What's on the shelves

Magic: The Gathering has the deepest stock. The store sells singles, sealed product and complete sets, plus a separate high-end tier that includes serialized cards and graded pieces. Recent stock runs from serialized Ravnica Remastered and March of the Machine: Multiverse Legends cards to Antiquities-era Mishra's Workshop copies in lightly and heavily played condition. Secret Lair product is carried sealed.

Pokémon is stocked as sealed product, including vintage sealed, and graded slabs, among them PSA 9 singles, are sold across several games. Disney Lorcana comes as both singles and sealed product. One Piece, Digimon, Dragon Ball Super, Star Wars: Unlimited and Yu-Gi-Oh! round out the card side, with Riftbound, Gundam, Union Arena and Cardfight Vanguard also on the shelf.

The store buys cards as well as selling them, and singles are graded by condition from Near Mint through Lightly Played and Moderately Played. Beyond cards, the board game section runs to about 418 products, from Root and Wingspan to lighter party games. Role-playing material covers Dungeons & Dragons books and accessories, and the Games Workshop section includes Citadel paints (base, contrast, dry, layer, technical, spray and primer), brushes and miniatures. Supplies include sleeves, deck boxes, dice and playmats from brands such as Dragon Shield, Ultimate Guard, Ultra Pro, KMC and Sirius, and the store also sells apparel, nanoblocks and models.

Yu-Gi-Oh! singles

Yu-Gi-Oh! singles are run by a separate vendor who buys, sells and trades in the store on set afternoons.

The vendor is often selected to attend Regionals and YCS events, so those hours can shift on weekends; calling the store at 1-586-412-6677 ahead of a visit is a good idea.

Preorders and store policies

The store takes preorders on major releases with announced dates. Current examples include the Magic: The Gathering Star Trek set from Universes Beyond, with a Play Booster Box at $145 and a Collector Booster Box at $500, both releasing November 6, and the Pokémon Delta Reign Booster Display at $200 and Elite Trainer Box at $90, releasing November 2. Star Trek Commander Decks are slated for November 6 as well, though that release has been delayed by Wizards of the Coast with details to follow. Where stated, preorder items are limited to one per household, and some require payment in full with no COD.

Shipping is not currently offered, so purchases are picked up in the store, though occasional exceptions can be arranged for some products.
